Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive stepdown nursing care including IV starts, managing chest and JP drains, wound care, oral care, dressing changes, and medication drips. Monitor patients using advanced telemetry and handle emergency responses and assessments such as CIWA and COWS protocols. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, vascular access teams, respiratory therapists, and remote telemonitoring nurses. Manage patient care ratios of approximately 1:5-6, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Utilize EMR systems (Cerner) and operate medical equipment including IV pumps (Plum 360), Omnicell medication dispensers, and multiple monitors. Float across inpatient units as needed, maintaining flexibility and a broad skill set. Participate in mandatory holiday rotations and weekend scheduling every third week, with shift hours primarily from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM and 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Qualifications: Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years stepdown or related experience. Certifications required: BLS and ACLS. Competent in IV insertion, managing tubes and drains, wound care, and telemetry monitoring. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
