Minimum Qualifications:
ASSOCIATE ENGINEER:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in
engineering (specific discipline).
- No related work experience required.
- Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or
experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and
abilities for the position.Licenses, Registration, and
Certifications
- Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
administered by the National Council for Engineering Examiners
within 6 months of hire.
- Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class 'R' Colorado
driver's license and have a satisfactory driving
record.ENGINEER:
Minimum Qualifications in addition to ASSOCIATE ENGINEER
- Minimum 4 years of related work experience.
- Professional Engineer Licensed in the State of Colorado.SENIOR

Under direct supervision, assists with planning studies and project
design from concept to completion on small or entry type projects.
Assist on maintenance of existing facilities, models, systems, and
equipment analyzing/diagnosing issues and improvements through
field investigations, testing, and engineering.

SENIOR ENGINEER:
Position Summary
A subject matter expert responsible for completing project design
on complex or large projects includingproject management,
development of contract documents, bid/proposal documents, and
service duringconstruction. Assist on maintenance of existing
facilities, systems, and equipment analyzing anddiagnosing issues
and improvements through field investigations, testing, and
engineering.
Supervisory Responsibilities

over other employees.

This position may have formal supervisory responsibilities over

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ASSOCIATE ENGINEER:
- Assist with planning studies, project design and maintenance
improvement projects from conception through construction.
- Analyze routine technical, engineering and operational
problems.
- Collect data through field observation/measurement, laboratory
use, and other forms of research andanalyses.
- Assist with the preparation of planning studies, contract plans
and specifications. Coordinateconstruction inspection and contract
administration.
- Analyze and gather data to assist identifying engineering and
planning problems.
- Perform investigations, calculations and sketches necessary to
complete planning studies, finisheddesigns and construction
specifications on less complex projects.
- Perform related work as required.ENGINEER:
- Manage and complete planning studies, project design of capital
and maintenance improvement projects from conception through
construction.
- Identify and analyze routine and complex technical, engineering
and operational problems. Review

- Coordinate and collect data through field

research and analyses.
- Review, plan, and perform pricing and costing activities,
quantity takeoffs/estimates, assembles, and checks data.

- Analyze engineering and planning problems and recommends
solutions.
- Perform investigations, calculations and sketches necessary to
complete planning studies, finished designs and construction
specifications on less complex projects.

- Perform work on all types of electrical, instrumentation,
control,communications, fire alarm, security, power distribution
and control through 25,000 volts, power generations, SCADA,
grounding, and corrosion control with some oversight:
- Perform a variety of analysis such as load and power flow,
short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash,
harmonics, switching transient, power factor correction, voltage
drop, efficiency, power quality, and signal attenuation.
- Develop one-line diagrams and control schematics
- Design low and medium voltage power distribution systems and
grounding systems
- Expert in knowledge and understanding of the National Electric
Code
- Develop protection schemes and switchgear requirements
- Layout conduit, wireway, and ductbanks
- Design PLC SCADA networks and industrial fiber optic
networks
- Develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams
- Select Instrumentation
- Develop control strategies
- Develop control panel layouts
- Develop I/O listsSENIOR ENGINEER:
- Ability to solve operational problems on projects, and
responsible for developing timely design solutions. Serve as the
key technical staff specialist for the division in the application
of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for an
assigned area of responsibility.
- Design and coordinate critical engineering projects. Propose
and implement documentation andprograms to measure, track, monitor,
and improve progress.
- Serve as project manager for a variety of engineering projects
often in a highly specialized area.
- Monitor field inspections, resolve disputes, and perform
contract administration duties.
- Assign and direct work of professional and technical personnel
within an assigned unit and provide technical guidance and quality
control checks.
- Manage consultants, design contracts, and provide design
direction for construction phases of projects.
- Coordinate scope and progress of projects with peers both in
and outside the Division.
- Participate in field inspection and contract
administration.
- Maintain liaison and represent the department at meetings.
Resolve disputes with outside public and private organizational
representatives.
- Responsible for coordinating activities across divisions and
sections required to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Perform related work as required.
