Pharmacy Technician Lead - Medication Transitions - Acute Care
Pharmacy (Job ID: 12529)Job SummaryUnder general supervision of a
pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Lead is the subject matter
expert for the assigned specialty area and performs advanced
technical tasks within the pharmacy department. Demonstrates the
ability to competently work in general and specialty areas of
pharmacy practice. Works with pharmacy leadership to develop
competencies and standard work within the designated area of
expertise.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, peers, nurses, and
providers to improve patient outcomes and quality metrics in
specialized areas of pharmacy practice
2. Participates in the training, competency development, and
continuous proficiency of employees in specialized areas of
pharmacy practice
3. Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a
licensed pharmacist
4. Complies with established departmental and DHHA policies and
procedures, code of conduct, quality improvement, infection
control, and safety initiatives
5. Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient
care
6. Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the
pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or
supervisor as needed
7. Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient
information
8. Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to
departmental and legal requirements
9. Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
10. Attends and participates in departmental meetings, in-services,
huddles, and departmental trainings as applicable
11. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may
be assigned

7. Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills
8. Ability to work independently within pharmacy scope of
practice
9. Knowledge of prescription processing and third-party billing, if
applicable
Computers and Technology
1. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, preferred
2. Proficiency with Epic, preferred
Certificates, Licenses and Registration
1. Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or ExCPT,
required
2. Current certification with Colorado State Board of Pharmacy
(SBOP), required
3. Advanced or specialized pharmacy technician certification,
preferred
4. All certifications and licenses required for this position must
be kept current as a condition of continued employment
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education 1. High school diploma or GED, required 2. Completion of
a pharmacy technician training program, preferred.
Experience 1. Three (3) year of pharmacy technician experience,
required 2. Five (5) years of pharmacy technician experience,
preferred.
Credentials 1. Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) through
PTCB or ExCPT, required 2. Current certification with Colorado
State Board of Pharmacy (SBOP), required 3. Advanced or specialized
pharmacy technician certification, preferred 4. All certifications
and licenses required for this position must be kept current as a
