Job Description:
Job SummaryUnder close supervision, responsible for providing a
safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for psychiatric
patients. Provides direct patient care and may conduct therapeutic
group sessions under the direction and supervision of the RN.
Provides input to the RN to help develop the plan of care and
assists in carrying out the plan of care for assigned patients.
Assists with the admission of new patients and orients new patients
and families to the unit.Under close supervision, responsible for
providing a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment for
substance abuse clients. Provides direct client care. Monitors dorm
milieu under the supervision of the Charge Counselor. Monitors and
provides care for clients in safe holding cells under the direction
and supervision of the RN. Provides input to the clinical team to
help develop the plan of care and assists in carrying out the plan
of care for assigned clients. Assists with the admission/intake of
new clients and orients new clients to the unit. Knowledge, Skills
& Abilities
- Demonstrates sensitivity in dealing with the psychiatric
patient population which requires very specific communication
skills as directed by the plan of care and ability to deal with
milieu management.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures
within a particular field.
- Skill in assisting patients with daily activities. Human
relations and effective communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain clinic competency.
- Ability to observe and document the patient's behavior.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to
perform the functions of the job.

- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Degree in a related field such as psychology, counseling, or
clinical social work (AA, BA. or BS or higher),
- Associate's DegreeExperience
- Two years' experience in the field or related area preferred or
an equivalent combinationCredentials
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) from American Heart Association
(Required)
- Possession of a current Colorado Certified Nursing Assistant
(CNA), preferred
- Certified Addictions Counselor, level one (CAC-1 or greater),
preferred
- Enrollment in an accredited school of nursing: in the second
year of the program, preferred
- Other current health technology certificate, preferred
- All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be
