About the General Services General Services facilitates Denver's success by efficiently managing over 6 million square feet in 135 city buildings. General Services manages over $330 million in city procurement spending, oversees over $28 million in annual utility costs, and focuses on the advancement of citywide facility safety and security, sustainability, energy efficiency programs and business support services. This Security Coordinator position resides within the Department of General Services, whose mission is to be agile, efficient and effective in delivering services in an ever-evolving environment. We provide quality, value-added support services to internal and external customers through our Denver Security Office, Energy Office, Contracts Office, Central Services Office, Purchasing Division, and Facilities Management Division. If you love developing and implementing security policy, this is the job for you As Security Coordinator, you can support a growing and robust Denver Security Office and help carry out the city's long-range security plans. You will be on the front line by analyzing a variety of security issues and preparing and implementing recommendations on critical city security and safety projects. In this position you will build upon a skillset in high demand and help keep our city facilities safe. The City of Denver is ready to make this investment in the right individual. Is it you? Duties and Responsibilities Conduct research and analysis on a variety of security issues Collect and compile information on relevant security trends, related laws, policies, procedures and methods Analyze data and explore possible solutions and the feasibility of recommended changes Develop recommendations for new, revised and improved work processes, policies, procedures, practices, methods, and other tools Present findings and recommendations including any budget implications for proposed recommendations and seeks support and approval of proposed recommendations Plan and assist in the implementation of new methods, policies, processes, and procedures Provide instruction and perform follow up to ensure defined outcomes are achieved Prepare written reports that summarize research, analysis, recommendations and implementation strategies Use and familiarization with social media software tools for threat analysis and dissemination Use and familiarization with data analysis using OSI (open source intelligence) Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and supportAbout You Our ideal candidate will be experienced in: Public safety and/or security policy Research Data analysis Formalizing recommendations Implementing policy Verbal and written communication, (i.e. procedures, policies) We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, or a related field. Experience: Two (2) years of professional administrative and analytical experience which must have included analyzing management problems and recommending solutions. Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
