Lockheed Martin is seeking a thought leader to serve the Navigation
Systems mission area as Chief Engineer. This Leader will shape the
future of Navigation Systems by strategically guiding our
multi-functional engineering team in achieving appropriately
balanced (cost, technical, schedule, risk) solutions in meeting
mission needs. This position involves complex strategy and careful
resolution of the technical issues that are encountered with a
large development program. This role is deployed to the Vice
President of Navigation Systems and supports program execution of
ongoing production (GPS III), new development (GPS IIIF) & future
follow on business. The Chief Engineer will partner with program
management leads to achieve efficient, effective, and innovative
Engineering solutions, including strategic product evolution,
achieving program success and looking for opportunities to use
common designs & products to enable affordable solutions. Primary
responsibilities of the Navigation Systems Chief Engineer are:
? Serve as the primary focal point for establishing appropriate
IRTs, EMRBs, SMRTs with significant, value added participation.
? Engage in architecture definition, technology development and
insertion, and technical trades with an emphasis on commonality,
best practices and value.
? Ensure that Command Media is followed and that designs are
compliant to LM Space design standards and contractual
? Establish and maintains a strong working relationship with
Central Engineering, act as an advocate for engagement with the
Military Space Line of Business (LOB) Chief Engineer and Functional
Engineering organization matching resources to needs and staffing
critical positions for the LOB as well as identifying new roles for
personnel whose assignment is completed.
? Ensure engagement of engineering resources to resolve anomalies
and technical issues and ensures that program lessons learned are
captured and fed back into the LOB and Space Corrective Action
Board (CAB) process.
? Participate in make/buy decisions, product sourcing decisions,
and supplier capability assessments.
? Lead review sessions for performance management for E&T
employees deployed into Navigation Systems.
? Identify and develop top talent, prepare and position top talent
for increasing levels of responsibility as future leaders or
technical experts within E&T.
? Attract, develop and retain diverse Engineering workforce, while
fostering an inclusive environment.
? Assure horizontal technical integration across Navigation Systems
and within the LOB, resulting in an improved risk posture that
includes technical, schedule and cost performance evaluations
during program execution.

? Minimum 10 years of technical and leadership experience with
proven expertise in systems integration.
? Experience leading diverse teams in the design, development,
sustainment and evolution of technical products.
? Demonstrated leadership skills and behaviors.
? Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve complex
? Validated ability to develop technical talent.
? Excellent communicator, with experience presenting to executive
leadership and external customers.
? Current DoD Secret clearance level, with the ability to obtain a
