Daniels is proud to be among the top business schools nationally and internationally to receive recognition for its graduate and undergraduate programs from U.S. News & World Report, Poets and Quants, Bloomberg Businessweek, Financial Times and Forbes.With over 300 days of sunshine a year, the nations largest city park system and a thriving and fast-growing business community, a Pew Research Study lists Denver as the #1 city in which people want to live.Position SummaryThe Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver (DU) invite applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Marketing to teach introduction to business and entrepreneurship courses starting fall 2019.The Assistant Teaching Professor of Marketing will work collaboratively with the Faculty Director of Entrepreneurship and the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs to develop and teach (1) courses in the Entrepreneurship Minor, and (2) The Fourth Industrial Revolution introduction to business course, the latter of which is a part of the Daniels BSBA Core Curriculum.The University of Denver follows the quarter system, where classes meet for 10 weeks during the fall, winter and spring quarters. The Assistant Teaching Professor will teach a total of nine sections during the fall, winter and spring quarters. Specific duties will include teaching The Fourth Industrial Revolution course and courses in the Entrepreneurship Minor, as determined by the needs of The Office of Entrepreneurship and Daniels Undergraduate Programs.At the Assistant Teaching Professor rank, the appointment is initially a one-year contract, renewable up to an additional two years pending satisfactory performance. Additional contracts may be awarded following a formal performance review. Position is expected to begin on September 1, 2019.Faculty members are expected to participate in school and college faculty meetings and engage in service activities. Working effectively and collegially with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and/or community members is an integral part of the job responsibility.Essential FunctionsTeaching Description:Expected to deliver the equivalent of nine courses throughout the fall, winter and spring quarters. Most courses are 4 credits, lasting the full 10 weeks of a quarter. However, some of the Entrepreneurship courses are called grinds, 1-day 1-credit courses that meet on Saturday. An individual grind counts as of a typical 4-credit class. The Teaching Assistant Professor is expected to teach 1 or more of these grind courses on Saturdays, not to exceed 6 per year, unless the Teaching Assistant Professor chooses to teach more and there is adequate need and demand. There may also be opportunities to teach during the summer quarter as well as online Entrepreneurship classes.Research and Scholarship:As part of maintaining faculty qualifications for accreditation, the Assistant Teaching Professor is encouraged to engage in professional and/or academic efforts to represent the University and industry; for example, research efforts, speaking engagements, professional memberships, etc. Publications are not a requirement, but would be highly valued.Service:Teaching Professors help serve the college by serving on committees, curricula design, and assurance of learning, and assuming other duties as assigned and/or needed.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge in several of the 6 key technology sets within the fourth industrial revolution as defined by the Daniels College of Business: Additive manufacturing, Artificial intelligence, Augmented/Mixed/Virtual reality, Distributed ledger technology and cryptocurrency, Internet of Things (IoT), and Autonomous vehicles and drones.Knowledge in several of these areas is necessary for teaching The Fourth Industrial Revolution, the introduction to business course.Demonstrated knowledge in several of the infrastructure technology sets that support the fourth industrial revolution: Cybersecurity, Big Data, Neuro technology, Bio technology, Cloud computing, Digital twins, Quantum computing, and Geo-engineering.Knowledge in several of these areas is necessary for teaching The Fourth Industrial Revolution, the introduction to business course.Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives to effectively engage diverse populations and learning styles.Demonstrated commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds.Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and collegiality.Required QualificationsMaster's degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, or a closely related field.Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence in the areas of introduction to business, entrepreneurship, the fourth industrial revolution, and related topics.Know how to appropriately write, speak, and perform within a diverse, global business environment.Real-world experience in having launched at least one successful entrepreneurship venture, regardless of industry or focus (social entrepreneurship, etc.).Preferred QualificationsDBA or PhD in Business, Entrepreneurship, or a closely related field.Demonstrated knowledge of lean startup and organic growth methodologies.Experience in team and experiential learning through class and work and understand the transfer of classroom knowledge/skills to the workforce.Experience working with real businesses and integrate their problems into class scenarios or projects.Application DeadlineFor best consideration, please submit your application materials by 4:00 p.m. (MST) on?June 19, 2019Special InstructionsCandidates must apply online through jobs.du.edu to be considered.
