Position summary: This position will be in charge of all production activities for the smart card department, with all employees on the assigned shift/area reporting to the Manager in Training. The Manager in Training, preferably with an engineering background, will work closely with process engineering, quality, customer care and procurement for daily operational activities. Our goal for this position is to develop someone over the next 12-18 months into a general operational leader for our plant. After 12-18 months this person will move to another operational assignment. Essential Responsibilities - 1. In charge of production flow in ALL areas of manufacturing which includes staffing and workflow 2. Production documentation -- Updating existing -- Creating new documentation as needed -- Responsible for all employee adherence to stated documentation 3. Analyze possible production issue 4. Learn to understand all Quality processes and procedures 5. Work with QC to find Root Cause Analysis for any job errors that may occur 6. Gives work direction, instruction, and training to production workers in ALL areas of production. 7. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards 8. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of the product 9. Suggests changes in the workflow process and the use of equipment to increase the efficiency of shop, department, or work crew 10. Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to the Manufacturing Manager for action 11. This position is responsible for the engagement, productivity, and performance of a team of 14. The candidate must be able to interface with a PC. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school (studies in engineering, business, manufacturing, and/or quality); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers Ability to add, subtract multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Directly supervises 8-12 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken. The ability to lead others effectively Willing to train on 4 th shift (Friday, Saturday, Sunday 4pm-4am) for up to 18 months STRONG preference for an engineering background or degree Mechanical aptitude a must Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math, and use basic hand held measuring tools. Must be able to work flexible hours as required Physical Demands - -- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk (up to 12 hrs per shift). -- The employee has the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of materials. -- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
