Environmental Services (ES) Department plays a vital role in
fulfilling Metro's mission to protect the region's health and
environment by cleaning water and recovering resources. The
department is responsible for a wide range of scientific,
technical, and regulatory activities that support clean water
operations and environmental stewardship. These responsibilities
include implementing Metro's Industrial Pretreatment Program;
conducting sampling for compliance monitoring, Annual Charges,
process control, pilot projects, and ambient stream, lake, and
groundwater conditions; and performing laboratory analyses to
support these efforts. The department also provides essential
analytical, regulatory, and technical support services across the
agency to help ensure water is clean and safe for agriculture,
aquatic life, recreation, and water supply. Why It's a Great

every day! General Statement Provides operational and
administrative support in the Environmental Services department.
Responsible for coordinating and tracking all activities associated
with multiple Environmental Services department programs including
the Employee Onboarding Program and the Employee Training and
Development Program. Reports to the Director of Environmental
Services. Examples of Duties Responsible for the administration and
management of critical ES programs such as the ES Employee
Onboarding Training and Development program, Department Remote
Work, and Travel requests. Assist with the development of
associated business processes and once finalized, manage the
associated workflows. Responsible for all associated coordination,
scheduling, tracking and reporting activities. Responsible for
completing operational and administrative assignments that are
varied and complex in nature and which may be politically and/or
legally sensitive. Assist with the development and tracking of the
Department budget. Prepare budget reports and analysis. Ensure that
all budget activities meet deadlines. Assist the Director of ES
with the creation and maintenance of document/report review
requests, approval, and signature to ensure compliance with
regulations and procedures. Identify alternative solutions and/or
opportunities for department program and business process
improvements. Assist with the development and implementation of
change management activities. Assist with the annual charge
coordination efforts at Metro. Assist with the planning and
scheduling of department and other internal and external meetings.
Handle all schedule coordination, room reservations and set up,
food and materials planning and provide support for the preparation
of agendas, presentations and meeting notes. Manage the Department
Teams Site and SharePoint Pages. Manage the scheduling calendar of
the Director and other division heads in ES, as assigned. As
directed, ensure timely archiving of department hard copy and
electronic files. Responsible for formatting, editing and
proofreading for typographical and/or formatting errors, documents
and reports of a technical and/or regulatory nature and which are
often formal submittals to federal, state and other agencies and/or
may support Metro projects and other efforts. Provide
administrative support to division heads and staff as assigned.
Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge of: General office processes and
procedures Advanced-level knowledge of Adobe and MS Office software
including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Power Point, and SharePoint
Grammar, spelling and punctuation Records management practices and
systems General budget development and management principles and
procedures Skilled at: Highly proficient with Adobe and MS Office
software including Outlook, Word, Excel (specifically
importing/exporting data and information, using functions to
analyze and graph financial and other data), Teams, Power Point,
and SharePoint Providing operational and administrative support to
director-level staff in a fast-paced, technical and/or regulatory
organization Organizing and planning to ensure timely and accurate
execution of responsibilities General mathematics, specifically to
support development, tracking and reporting of budget information
Clear and concise verbal and written communication Taking minutes
of meetings and summarizing discussions Identifying and
implementing business process improvements Ability to: Exercise
sound discretion regarding sensitive and confidential topics and/or
situations Multi-task and handle multiple, often competing
priorities Work in a fast-paced environment Perform at a high level
while meeting deadlines Be flexible and adaptable Plan and
