POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Enterprise Network Administrator is a highly technical
individual, with extensive operational experience, reporting to the
Senior Manager of Enterprise Network Operations. The role is
primarily operations focused, with responsibility for leading
administration of a broad range of IT network services related to
Enterprise network platforms such as LAN, WAN, wireless, firewall,
remote access and network management. Operational responsibilities
across these platforms include configuration, monitoring/ network
management, patching, incident triage/resolution, identity/access
management, performance tuning and working closely with vendors and
service providers.
The Senior Enterprise Network Administrator is a team leader, who,
in addition to the duties of operational network administration, is
also responsible for prioritizing and escalating operational issues
for the team, providing 2nd and 3rd level support, generating
reports on key performance metrics, working with the engineering
team to onboard new systems into the environment and mentoring and
guiding other team members.
The Senior Enterprise Network Administrator will be part of a
dynamic, highly technical and fun team. The successful candidate
should be ambitious and motivated to develop their skills and
experience in this challenging and rewarding role, working along a
path towards either an engineer/architect role or onto a management
track.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
General Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert, mentor, and team leader who
other Enterprise Network Ops team members can rely on to ensure
team success in outstanding operational support, technical skills
development, and team effectiveness.
- Implement, build, support and document Enterprise networking
systems, including physical, virtual and cloud-based networks.
- Provide outstanding delivery of 24/7 production services
supporting networking hardware, network operating systems, network
firewalls and security systems.
- Provide technical expertise and hands-on capability to
identify, prioritize, diagnose and resolve operational impacts to
service such as outages, performance issues, capacity constraints,
and security risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams (i.e., Resort and Enterprise
IT) plus external consultants and vendors in an effective manner in
order to prioritize and resolve incidents and service requests in a
timely manner to meet established SLA's and KPI's.
- Perform configuration and change management activities as
driven by formal ITSM processes established for the IT
organization.
- Follow existing and help draft new processes, structures, and
systems with a focus on simplification and optimization.
- Collaborate closely with Business Applications/Business Analyst
teams to establish and support applications operations frameworks
and processes.
- Work closely with IT Security, Compliance & Privacy to enforce
standards, operational processes, and policies.
- Produce documentation supporting the current as-built state of
Enterprise network systems. Work with other Enterprise teams to
continually update documentation as needed.
- Participate in an on-call/escalation rotation as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working hands-on in a network
operations role for a large enterprise.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience acting as a team lead in a
network operations role for a large enterprise.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with the configuration,
operation and support of LAN, Campus and Datacenter networks
including the configuration and support of VLAN's, Trunks, SVI's
switchports and spanning-tree protocols.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with the configuration,
operation and support of WIFI (wireless) networks including setting
up new WIFI networks, Access Points, configuring user access and
troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with the configuration,
operation and support of WAN networks including SD-WAN and
traditional VPN based networks.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with the configuration,
operation and support of virtual networking technologies such as
VMware vSwitch, VDS, NSX and Hyper-V.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with the configuration,
operation and support of cloud networking on platforms such as
Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with the configuration,
operation and support of network device administration and network
access security systems such as TACACS, RADIUS, Cisco ISE and/or
Aruba ClearPass.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with the configuration,
operation and support of firewalls including Next Generation
Firewall's (NGFW's), IPS/IDS systems and centralized firewall
management tools.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with the configuration,
operation and support of Network management tools such as
SolarWinds, PRTG, WhatsUp Gold, Kiwi Cat-tools, Pingdom and Logic
Monitor.
- Advanced knowledge of common operating systems and hypervisor
platforms such as Microsoft Windows, Unix, Active Directory, VMware
vSphere, DNS and DHCP.
- Advanced knowledge of and operational experience with Windows
and Unix based network tools such as ping, traceroute, netstat,
ssh, putty, OpenSSL and DNS.
- Hands on experience installing network equipment into racks
along with experience with and "common sense" cable routing and
knowledge of balancing systems across UPS power and rack power
strips.
- Strong task and time management skills. Demonstrates the
ability to manage multiple operational tasks and prioritize time
effectively. Able to work independently and brings a "self-starter"
attitude to the team.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
with ability to interact with various levels of management and
staff, as well as outside vendors, contractors, service providers
and consultants.
- Demonstrate the ability to use Enterprise office tools, such as
the Microsoft O365 Office Suite when producing documentation and
working in collaboration with others.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Visio and the ability to use Visio
to produce physical and logical network diagrams.
DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Expert knowledge in the configuration, operation and support of
Palo Alto Next Generation physical and virtual firewalls.
- Advanced knowledge in the configuration of scripts to support
network operation including skills in scripting using Python,
PowerShell, Cisco IOS, Palo and Juniper OS.
- Advanced knowledge of Cloud networking specifically across
multiple geographic regions.
- Advanced knowledge of network automation tools and
concepts.
- Functional knowledge of network load balancers and
reverse-proxies.
- Experience working with Managed Service Providers, IT
Consultants and Internet Service Providers at an Enterprise
level.
- Experience working with ITSM tools such as Fresh Service or
ServiceNow.
- Previous experience in ski, resort or hospitality management
environment is highly desirable.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems,
Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in work experience.
- Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSA or equivalent certifications
are highly desirable.
- ITIL v3 Foundation's certification or equivalent demonstrable
ITSM experience is required.
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the
Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position.
Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based
on various factors including but not limited to experience,
education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of
production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel.
The range listed is just one component of the Company's total
compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include
short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific
benefits.
Denver area base salary range: $67,000 to $93,000 per year
