We are core contributors to the Joint Doctoral Program in the Study of Religion, which the University of Denver shares with the Iliff School of Theology. **Position Summary**The Department of Religious Studies invites applications for an adjunct position in Spring 2022:* A mixed-level course, RLGS 3470 Mysticism and Psychedelics, T/Th 2-3:50 pm.Syllabus for this course is on file but the successful candidate would be welcome to design a syllabus of their own. The Department is particularly interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to our Colleges commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including through implementing inclusive teaching and learning principles in the classroom. Please note that we are not a theology or ministry department, and that the University of Denver is a secular institution.**Essential Functions*** Teach one course in our ten-week spring quarter* Teach in-person, on campus course meeting twice per week, 1h 50 minutes (with a ten-minute break in the middle)* For this mixed-level course, delineate distinct readings and assignments for undergraduate, MA, and Ph.D. students* Hold weekly office hours and communicate responsively to students via email**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*** Knowledge of the field (subject matter expertise)* Knowledge of contemporary pedagogical approaches and philosophies* Ability to use Canvas* Ability to provide feedback to students in a timely manner* Commitment to utilizing and engaging a diverse range of perspectives, scholars, approaches, and resources in teaching materials and practice**Required Qualifications*** Completed Ph.D. prior to appointment (no exceptions). Degree may be from religious studies or any relevant field with appropriate religious studies training* Record of successful teaching experience during and/or after ones graduate training**Preferred Qualifications*** Theoretical training that includes familiarity with a diverse range of scholars* Strong oral and written communication skills**Course Rate**Adjunct faculty are compensated at a rate of $4,233 per course.The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range.
