Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the investigation of companywide OS&D issues,
the disposition of distressed shipments, and the resolution of loss
and damage claims. Responsible for ensuring compliance with
prevailing regulations, company processes and procedures, and
established legal principles. Interface with customers and
coordinate with operations, sales, and quality personnel to enhance
customer satisfaction and minimize complaints while protecting
corporate interests. Ensure the productivity of the team is in
alignment with expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in personnel administration processes to include
interviewing of candidates, promotion recommendations, performance
appraisals, career counseling, and salary administration.
Administer personnel activities such as staffing, counseling, and
training to ensure personnel are prepared to accomplish job
functions.
Oversee the management, training, and supervision of the offshore
processes for accuracy and productivity goals as established by the
department.
Manage departmental administration to include formulation of
department policies, goals, and objectives. Monitor workload and
productivity levels of Claim Prevention and Resolution, adjust
distribution of workloads as needed, keep staff informed of new
developments regarding contracts, tariffs, customer agreements, and
federal mandate.
Plan, implement and enhance internal quality processes. Conduct and
participate in regularly scheduled meetings with subordinates and
superiors to identify efficiencies.
Manage the investigation of critical or high value shortages to aid
the customer and reduce claims for the company.
Manage the preparation and maintenance of departmental statistical
data and provide this information to field and FRC personnel.
Travel to potential problem terminals for the purpose of doing
OS&D audits or customer visits.
Manage departmental communications and training to ensure
department members, other company personnel and the companies'
customers are kept up to date on policies and procedures for
OS&D pre-claims, claims, recovery, and analytical/reporting
processes.
Oversee audits and approvals of customer claims, terminals audit
reviews, claim prevention initiatives to ensure continuous quality
improvement.
Establish departmental and operational procedures that evaluate and
reduce company exposure to liability.
Manage salvage vendor relationship, including proper accounting for
salvage, contract negotiations and ensuring accurate records of
shipment disposition.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration or
transportation or equivalent experience.
Five (5) years minimum experience in transportation required.
Demonstrated team leadership, negotiation and project management
skills required.
Knowledge of over, short and damage procedures, freight loss and
damage adjudication, and application of government regulations, the
bill of lading contract, common and statutory law and contracts
required.
Ability to lead two distinct teams.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication
skills.
Demonstrated organizational and prioritization abilities.
Proficiency using personal computer business applications.
Experience in OS&D investigations or freight loss and damage
adjudication.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master of Business Administrative degree.
Previous supervisory experience.
Thorough knowledge of Yellow general operations.
Knowledge of transportation contract terms.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This job operates in a professional office environment indoors.
Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,
photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or
standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to
perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional
lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials
is required.
