JOB CLASSIFICATION / WORK EXPECTATIONS: The Academic Advisor position is a full-time, non-exempt position. Employees in this position follow the Year Round Work Calendar, as determined annually. The expected workweek is 40 hours, from Monday - Friday. The position is located in our Englewood, CO Central Office and is not available for remote work. SUMMARY:This position entails advising students regarding academic plans and progress, assists the student in making decisions concerning personal and educational goals leading to graduation and beyond including post-secondary career and vocational planning. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining academic records including student schedules and transcripts. The position requires working closely and collaboratively with administration, staff, students, and parents.REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:The Academic Advisor position reports to and is evaluated by the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction and does not supervise any HOPE or Learning Site employees. SALARY RANGE: $45,000 - $55,000ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Priority Area: Student Advisement (40%)Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Academic Advisor will: Demonstrate expertise in HOPE Graduation Pathway Options and requirementsPlan, monitor and direct the multi-year process to student graduation. Use a full body of evidence including historical progress and testing results to determine the appropriate Graduation Pathway and Plan of Study for each student on your caseloadAdvise students on realistic graduation dates & timelinesCoordinate and promote advanced coursework options including concurrent enrollment and AP/Honors coursesReview course catalog with students and support students in choosing elective courses that are relevant to their future career pathwayDevelop expertise in curriculum offerings including sequence of courses, pre-requisites and required courses for students with Personalized Learning Plans including IEP and CDL(ELL) learnersPriority Area: Academic Records (30%)Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Academic Advisor will: Develop and maintain student schedules, including auditing virtual curriculum/coursework and Infinite Campus schedules for alignment and accuracyAccurately and efficiently enter transcripts for incoming students into Infinite CampusEnter local assessment scores (WorkKeys, Capstone, other) required for students chosen PathwayUse Infinite Campus tools including Academic Planner and Multi-year tool to monitor student's graduation progressMaintain Graduation Eligibility lists for assigned learning sitesRecommend and verify that students have met the graduation requirementsPriority Area: Communication and Collaboration (20%)Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Academic Advisor will: In collaboration with Curriculum and Instruction team members, develop and maintain the comprehensive Course CatalogCommunicate student's Plan of Study Progress with all stakeholders including student, family, mentor/coach, Learning Site director and appropriate HOPE staff membersCollaborate with HOPE site coordinators and Learning Site staff on course placement and on-going course progressMaintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reportsCollaborate and Communicate with Concurrent Enrollment Community College partners to support students to be successful in these programsPriority Area: Lead by exemplifying professionalism and commitment to the community (10%)Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Academic Advisor will: Provide a leadership role in Graduate Day and Graduation Ceremony preparation and executionParticipate in extracurricular offerings and programs at HOPE or Learning Sites including clubs, activities and special events such as orientations and awards ceremoniesSets personal goals related to student engagement outcomes and seeks opportunities to improve personal professional practice through professional development and reflectionOther duties as assigned

EDUCATION, LICENSURE AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:RequiredBachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience 2 or more years of experience working in academic settings SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:RequiredCommitment to social justice and equitable education for all and support of community-based learningExcellent personal and public relations skills; must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgroundsFluency and literacy in English, excellent oral and written communication Excellent technology skills - Online curriculum, Google Docs, Drive and Gmail, MS Office, Student Information and learning management systemsProactive and detailed oriented, ability to prioritize and be self-directedAbility to handle multiple projects and meeting deadlinesFlexibility to adapt to unexpected and frequent changes, based on organizational needsPreferredOral and written fluency in SpanishSecondary teaching background or experience in academic advising or related career LOCATION, WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:Work is routinely performed in an office environment with moderate noise level. This position works primarily at the HOPE Central Office in Englewood, with regular travel to and between Learning Site. Travel is the responsibility of the employee.
