Weekly Hours: 40. 00

Salary Range: 17.50 - 28.00

Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates fitness and activities within the assigned department. Prepares and maintains records, writing reports and responds to correspondence. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with members, team members and the public. Demonstrates ability to teach various ages and fitness levels. Implements decisions effectively. Supervises others and evaluates their performance. Provides problem solving abilities and performs job responsibilities with little supervision.

Demonstrates internal and external networking to promote and grow department services. Supervises staff to be accountable to tasks and work productivity. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members. Practices positive collaboration and converts difficult interactions into productive ones. Ensures department meets all regulatory requirements. Displays knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and the ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

Actively pursues courses to develop new wellness programs alongside keeping abreast with development in the wellness field. Assists with coordinating wellness activities at outreach sites as requested. Promotes staff development through literature, updates, education, meetings and in-services.

Demonstrates flexibility to attend meetings and coordinate schedule coverage to include hours during the morning, day, evening and weekend, sometimes with minimal notice. Reacts calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Communicates clearly, both verbally and in written form. Possesses skills with basic office equipment and computers. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.


Bachelor's degree preferred.

Minimum two years applicable experience preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of hire. Additionally, a nationally recognized certification is required, such as: American Council on Exercise (ACE), Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA), International Fitness Association (IFA), National Academy of Sports Management (NASM), or Exercise Science Alliance.
