Pay Range $85,000 - $100,000COVER LETTER REQUIRED WITH APPLICATION* Pursuant to Executive Order 14043, this position requires full vaccination against COVID-19 regardless of work location.Summary- GeologistThe geologist should have technical understanding of the physical properties, chemical properties, and economic value of soils, minerals, and aggregates. Knowledge of the federal environmental clearance application process in relation to solid mineral exploration, evaluation, and development. Experience with the mineral exploration process, including surface and subsurface sampling, (drilling, backhoeing), reconnaissance geological mapping, detailed geological mapping, and resource quality and quality evaluation and estimation.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.* Serve as project manager and provide oversight for assigned mineral evaluation or mineral marketing projects.* Provide direction for project development, technical analysis, and resource assessment.* Prepare resource estimates of industrial mineral and construction aggregate deposits.Prepare and review mine and reclamation plans for undeveloped mineral properties including mining method, equipment selection, staffing, production rate, and scheduling.* Review, comment, and prepare reports on resource estimates and mine plans prepared by others for mineral deposits.* Assist Indian mineral owners with mineral lease contract negotiation.* Review and comment on proposed mineral lease agreements between outside parties and tribes or allotment holders with particular attention to royalty terms and environmental protection.* Assist Indian mineral holders with contractor selection.* Act as mineral geologist/engineer technical representative for tribes dealing with mining companies, contractors, and government agencies.* Make presentations to tribes, federal government agencies, and the general public on geologic, exploration, regulations, mineral agreement, NEPA, and mining fundamentals.* Travel frequently to Indian Reservations to conduct field work that includes collaborating with Tribes, overseeing project contractors, geologic mapping, and assessing, locating, and sampling aggregate and mineral resources.* Communicate with Tribal members, Tribal leaders, and BIA officials to solicit the Energy and Mineral Development Program (EMDP) annual program. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.TravelTravel is required during the business day, out-of-area and overnight travel to be expected.Experience* Technical understanding of the physical properties, chemical properties, and economic value of soils, minerals, and aggregates.* Thorough knowledge of geology and solid mineral deposits.* Knowledge of the federal environmental clearance application process in relation to solid mineral exploration, evaluation, and development.* Experience with the mineral exploration process, including surface and subsurface sampling, (drilling, backhoeing), reconnaissance geological mapping, detailed geological mapping, and resource quality and quality evaluation and estimation.* The ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate geological sample analyses.* Knowledge and experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) software and how to utilize the software in mineral resource and market evaluations.* Experienced in drafting technical scope of work and realistic budgets for exploration projects.* Experience with independently managing multiple work assignments in order to maintain progress on them simultaneously* Experience reviewing geologic maps and surface and subsurface geologic conditions in conjunction with engineering or development projects* Experience in communicating in both formal and informal settings with those inside and outside the agency, other government agencies, state or local governments, private institutions, members of the general public, landowners, permittees and contractors* Experience composing formal written products dealing with technical/scientific information* 10 - 15 Years Industry experienceEducation* B.S. in Geology with three years of experience with solid mineral exploration and evaluation OR* A B.S. in Mining or Civil Engineering with at least 20 hours of geology classes with three years of experience with solid mineral exploration and evaluation OR* B.S. in Mining or Civil Engineering with at least five years of experience with solid mineral exploration and evaluation OR* Any undergraduate degree but with a M.S. degree in GeologyAdditional Eligibility QualificationsMaintain a valid Driver's License and be insurable under the company insurance provider/program.Security ClearancePublic Trust clearance required for this positionExecutive Order 14043 COVID-19 Vaccination RequirementPursuant to Executive Order 14043, this position requires full vaccination against COVID-19 regardless of work location.AAP/EEO StatementHo-Chunk, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
