Job Description:

The selected candidate will provide chemistry support for environmental projects supporting federal (and potentially other) clients. You will be responsible for: data validation and data quality assessment support, environmental emergency response, field investigations (including soil, sediment, water, and air sampling; drilling and subcontractor supervision; and coordination with analytical laboratories), construction and/or remedial action oversight, and preparation of technical reports. You will also prepare various technical deliverables including reports, letters, proposals, cost estimates, tables, and figures. The candidate will work collaboratively with and under the supervision of a project or program manager. You will also support technical writing for letter reports, field studies, due diligence and remedial investigation reports, monthly progress reports, standard operating procedures, and more. Strong writing skills are critical. Responsibilities also involve providing task and project management support, including procurement and oversight of subcontractors and laboratories. The selected candidate will interact with Tetra Tech offices nationwide, and interact with subcontractors, stakeholders, and clients.

40-hour OSHA, Incident Command System (ICS), or related training a plus.

Asbestos and or lead certification

GIS, CAD, data base management, working with big data, and SQL Server Data Base Management
6+ years of experience in field chemistry

4 years of experience if they obtain a Masters degree or higher

B.A/B.S. in Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline required.


Analytical laboratory and method experience performing and preparing:

o Gas chromatography (GC) and Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS)

o EPA SW 846 methods 8015, 8260, 8270

o Portable x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers

o Portable Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy analyzers

o Basic laboratory operations/balances

o Instrument labeling and calibration

1+ year of EPA Data validation and stage 4 reviews of level 4 data packages

o Organic, inorganic, and high-resolution data review

o Inorganic parameters (metals and wet chemical methods)

o Organic parameters (volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, pesticides, herbicides, polychlorinated biphenyl compounds, and dioxins/furans)

Environmental and hazardous materials emergency response, contaminated site investigation and cleanup projects is preferred.

1+ year of START contract experience
