SUMMARY Our client is into research products and services and is paving the way to a deeper understanding of genetic diseases, including cancers and developmental disorders. currently, they are looking for a certified ASCP Cytogenetic Technologist candidate with at least 3 years of experience, who can support a variety of areas, including assay production, assay execution, imaging, and analysis. Employs scientific methods to execute assigned tasks and assists with the development of plans for projects or studies. Creates documentation of work, including batch records and standard operating procedures. Relocation assistance is available for non-local highly qualified candidates. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Process documentation, including SOPs and Batch Records * Make reagents, prepare and stock lab consumables, and washing glassware * Adhere to all lab safety protocols to avoid contamination of specimens and minimize the risk of workplace incidents * Assist other laboratory personnel with cell culture * Identify and troubleshoot problems that may adversely affect test performance * Fluorescence in situ hybridization assay execution and analysis * Slide preparation of cells for examination by staining and mounting specimens * Perform chromosome analysis on a variety of human cell lines * Classify and distinguish abnormal cell structures, and prepare reports based on abnormal findings * Participate in analysis and improvement of laboratory processes, including investigation of nonconformances, and design and implementation of new methods * Assist with research, design, and optimization of new assays QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: * Bachelors degree in the clinical lab, physical, or biological science * National certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Cytogenetic Technologist * Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Cytogenetic Technologist * Demonstrated ability to work independently while achieving scheduled results * Compliance with laboratory and scientific documentation requirements * Strong organizational skills within a laboratory team Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to generate compliant documentation of laboratory activities. Computer Skills: Experience working with automated image analysis and karyotyping software. To perform this job successfully, an individual should also be comfortable with the use of standard word processing and spreadsheet programs.
