Job Description:

The Program Coordinator is responsible for client intake and referrals, including the assignment of volunteers and staff to meet client requests for service of the SOS Handyman Chore Services Program. The Program Coordinator maintains an appropriate data base of clients and operations, participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating the program to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of services. Events Program Coordinator plans, coordinates and implements program events in addition to other possible program responsibilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES--- Establishes trusting relations with coworkers, peers, and program participants.--- Assists in recruitment, orientation, and training of volunteers in a manner consistent with the mission of Volunteers of America and the Handyman Program.--- Responds to all requests for service by facilitating client intake and/or referring those requests not within the parameters of the Handyman Program to other providers.--- Coordinates and assigns volunteers and part-time paid handyman repair staff to meet the service needs of clients.--- Maintains current and accurate data base containing all information required and necessary for efficient reporting of the Program's operations and services to internal departments and external grant agencies.--- Maintains and updates the policy and procedure manual for the program as needed.--- Maintains and ensures confidentiality of all program participant information.--- Supervises all Handyman office and special event volunteers.--- Events Senior Associate has responsibility for planning, recruiting of clients and volunteers, facilitating of publicity, and overall operation of special events such as "Cool Down, Colorado!" "Fix Up and Be Safe" Snow Buddies Program, Yard Work Coordination and Fall Prevention Presentations and "Rake Up, Colorado".--- Events Senior Associate writes and submits annual grant request for LEAHP funding for fan purchases for Cool Down event under the direction of the Program Manager and ANS Senior Director, and coordinates purchase and delivery of fans with Home Depot.--- Assists in the coordination, purchase, storage and inventory of any special tools or supplies, and monitoring of all expenditures for such.--- Performs all other assigned duties.COMPETENCIES--- Models core culture attributes of Volunteers of America-Colorado Branch that include"AIRS" (Accountability, Integrity, Respect and Service).--- Models and pursues with vigor Volunteers of America- Colorado Branch three critical virtues of HHS ( Hungry, Humble, and People Smart).SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES--- Program Repair Persons--- Program Volunteers

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION--- Associate degree in general studies or equivalent relevant experience.--- Minimum one year supervisory or administrative experience.--- Own transportation, valid Colorado driver's license, and proof of insurance (required for Events SA).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION--- Own transportation, valid Colorado driver's license, and proof of insurance.--- Degree emphasis in Gerontology or Human Services field preferred.--- Volunteer and event management experience preferred.--- Fluent in Spanish preferred.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS--- Clear understanding and respect for maintaining client confidentiality.--- Possesses an ability to listen effectively and respond creatively to program participant issues.--- Possesses an ability and willingness to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.--- Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.--- Knowledgeable about available services for population served in operational geographic area.--- Knowledge of computer operations including Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to learn database programs.WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS--- Travel to and from event locations and presentations may be required.--- Ability to lift up to 25lbs. repeatedly may be required.--- Repetitive use of basic yard tools may be required.--- Working in a variety of outside weather conditions may be required.--- Noise levels may vary from low to high.POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK---Part time: Generally, Monday - Friday 10 am to 2 pm--- Some evening and/or weekend hours may be required based on program events or dutiesLOCATION--- 2660 LARIMER STREET, DENVER, COSalary: $16.39 per hourBenefit eligibility is based on job type/statusPaid HolidaysPaid Time OffVolunteer/Wellness DayTuition AssistancePension and 403b Retirement PlanHealth, Dental, Vision, Pet InsurancesLife Insurance (Including Accidental Death & Dismemberment)Accident InsuranceShort Term & Long Term DisabilityEmployee Assistance/Work Life Balance ProgramEmployee Discount ProgramLifeLock with Norton#VOACO
