Position: Severance Middle School Learning Coach/Librarian. Must hold a current teaching license. 185 day calendar, begins August 4, 2021.

Salary range: Based on approved 2021/22 Salary Schedule

The Learning Coach/Librarian plays a key role in the implementation of sound pedagogical practices aligned with the district vision and strategic plan. In collaboration with school principals, district leaders, and other learning coaches, the Learning Coach/Librarian supports teachers and fosters educator growth through a personalized approach to professional learning and support. Leveraging human-centered design, modeling and close coaching, the Learning Coach/Librarian champions the design of systems that facilitate equitable access to physical and digital learning resources as well as personalized learning spaces. The Learning Coach/Librarian coaches teachers toward planning and implementation of innovative, learner-driven experiences and models effective and ethical use of information, technology, and learning resources. In addition to coaching responsibilities, the Learning Coach/Librarian manages the operations, staffing, budget, and environments (physical and digital) of an innovative library media center.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal with consultation from the technology and instruction departments

SUPERVISES: Library assistant and, if applicable, volunteers and student aides


* Bachelor's Degree from accredited institution in a field that prepares this person for the functions and duties of this position * Current Colorado teaching and/or principal license * Approaches new and challenging situations with a growth mindset * Highly organized and manages multiple projects and assignments effectively and efficiently * Maintains confidentiality and student data privacy * Proven track record of collaborative relationship building, sharing resources and solving problems * Knowledge of effective blended learning practices and instructional technology integration * Models and builds capacity toward digital citizenship * Uses resources to employ strong information literacy skills and knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards and their application to instruction * Promotes Weld RE-4 classroom attributes and indicators throughout all areas of the learning community * Demonstrated leadership qualities in working with teachers and principals to support school and district goals and objectives * Works as a positive contributing member of a team as well as a self-directed independent staff member focused on classroom, building, and district goals


* Current Colorado teaching license endorsement in one or more of the following: * Teacher Librarian * School Librarian * Instructional Technology Teacher * Instructional Technology Specialist

* Advanced Degree from accredited institution in Library and Information Science, Instructional Design and Development, Instructional Technology, Information and Learning Technologies, School Leadership, or a related field


Cultivate a Culture of Continuous Learning

* Facilitate personalized classroom learning experiences by aligning resources, supporting implementation, and maintaining sustained coaching relationships with all classroom teachers * Conduct regular instructional rounds to identify areas of promising practice within the building and build empathy around professional learning needs and individual coaching needs of school staff * Play a key role in informing, planning, developing and delivering professional learning aligned to building and district themes, strategic plans, and vision work * Work with teachers to build confidence and efficacy in their instruction by utilizing a short-term/gradual release model * Empower all members of the learning community to be critical thinkers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information * Collaborate in the selection, evaluation and facilitation of technologies to support student learning * Model and advocate for the appropriate, intentional use of technology; develop staff technology support resources as needed * Engage in continuous personal professional learning to deepen knowledge around content, pedagogy, leadership and technology that supports the building vision and strategic plan

Strengthen Personalized Instructional Strategies

* Coach teachers toward design and implementation of personalized learning experiences that: * Align learning with state and district standards * Develop and scale promising instructional practices aligned to the vision * Utilize a variety of research-based, learner-centered instructional strategies and instructional tools * Ensure equitable and inclusive learning experiences for all * Integrate technology across the curriculum through interdisciplinary units to develop research skills, collaboration and community connectedness * Foster creativity, higher-order thinking, and habits of mind needed for success beyond school * Enable personalization of content delivery, processes, products and learning environment based on student readiness levels, learning styles, interests and personal goals * Continuously assess and measure a wide range of whole child competences through various assessment approaches * Collect, analyze, interpret, and leverage a wide range of learner data to enhance teaching and learning

* Model personalization for educators by leveraging digital and non-digital resources, using multiple pedagogical approaches, reimagining environments, and using time flexibly. * Model and advocate for safe, healthy, legal and ethical uses of information, technology, and data with both teachers and students.

Lead and Foster a Culture of Collaboration

* Collaborate and communicate regularly with building administrator(s) around school strategic plan * Develop internal and external networks of educators to share promising practices and build knowledge of personalization * Serve as a permanent member of the building's Instructional Leadership Team and vision teams * Engage in regular collaborative learning networks with other district learning coaches and leaders * Leverage digital resources to engage the community with classrooms * Communicate promising practices to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

Maintain an Inviting and Inclusive Library Learning Environment

* Establish general vision and direction for a library space that is fun, inviting, safe, flexible, collaborative, inclusive, and conducive to learning * Develop and support programming functions within the library, including student-centered activities and makerspace * Implement a systematic budgeting, selection and deselection process to maintain a strong library collection * Build a diverse, responsive library collection with resources in multiple formats that reflect a wide variety of viewpoints * Provide clear communication, training and guidance for library assistant, volunteers, and student aides as they support routine library activities
