Deputy Attorney General, a role which offers a unique leadership
opportunity with statewide impact. We are looking for a dynamic and
committed environmental law expert to lead ourNatural Resources and
Environment Section . This section is made up of a diverse team of
professionals whowork with their clients to protect and improve the
quality of Colorado's land, air, water, and wildlife.The Deputy
also serves as a member of the office-wide leadership team,
therefore we are seeking an individual who will drive innovative
leadership initiatives and help implement the vision and values for

This Deputy Attorney General manages the Natural Resources and
Environment Section. Attorneys in the Natural Resources and
Environment Section work with their clients to protect and improve
the quality of Colorado's land, air, water, and wildlife. Attorneys
in the section work in 8 units representing various clients
primarily in the Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and
the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) as
well as several independent boards or agencies including
theColorado Natural Resources Trustees and the Colorado Energy
Office .The Deputy of the Natural Resources & Environment Section
leads and manages the overall work of the section, which includes
developing a supportive and inclusive culture in line with the
vision and values of the Department of Law; considering diversity,
equity, and inclusion in decision-making; and fostering
collaboration, teamwork, and professional development for staff.
Responsibilities include overseeing the legal work of section
attorneys; supervising attorneys, managing personnel, and hiring
attorneys and employees within the State Personnel System;
implementing performance management and planning; prioritizing work
for and delegating work to attorneys and staff; developing the
section's strategic plan; working with the Attorney General on
policy development, legislation, and media relations; and preparing
monthly, annual, and fiscal year reports on section activities.The
Deputy collaborates with clients and attorneys throughout the
office on a wide variety of legal issues and strategy and may
assist in general counsel work, rulemaking, and legislative review.
The Deputy also serves as a member of the Attorney General's
leadership team and will be an integral part of developing and
implementing the Attorney General's vision for the Department of
Law.The Department of Law may fill additional leadership positions
