You should be an optimist, and a realist, at the same time.We need you to be creative and able to think outside the box, while also adhering to the established parameters of law and court procedure.Of course, you must have the skills necessary to advocate for clients before a mediator or a court, and not be afraid to do so. You also know that litigation is not always the path to the best outcome. You are not motivated by the thrill of the other side losing but are dedicated to achieving an optimal outcome for our clients, consistent with their values - which you, along with our team, may help them discover.You understand that this process is about more than writing legal documents. You are eager to marshall the resources of our team that can go beyond the "bare minimum" and provides all the help the clients may need. Responsibilities:
Our attorneys serve a captain on our multi-faceted team. The members of our team include paralegals, assistants, coaches, counselors, and more. We are all focused on empowering our clients to navigate change and conflict in their family lives. You will help clients to develop and articulate a vision of the future they are working to achieve and prepare a strategy that helps them to achieve it. We believe that we should not impose what we see as "the solution" onto clients' lives. How will you do this?
--- Listen. You have experience ... and it will help you hear what's important. But you also know that it is important for the client to tell their story
--- Hear. Our clients will tell you, (and you will help them tell) about what they need, beyond what they need in court or litigation. You are going to help them navigate one of the most challenging times of their lives
--- Dedicated to empowering our clients to make the best decisions for themselves and their families
--- Stand up for clients in forums that are unfamiliar to them. You will be ready, willing, and able to advocate for clients in places where our expertise can shine, including negotiations, mediation, litigation, trial, etc
--- Align with clients. You will serve clients effectively, and efficiently so that they can reach their solutions as quickly, and affordably as possible
--- Serve the whole client. You will put clients in touch with additional resources, both inside and outside New Leaf. These could be closely affiliated, like parenting coordinators, divorce coaches, and financial planners, to other resources that clients may need, like real estate brokers, car dealers, personal trainers, or makeover artists
--- Empower our clients to build their futures. You will help clients make, and implement a plan for after their divorce or other family change
--- Bring more people into New Leaf Family. You will be a positive ambassador for the work of the firm, and attract clients, and colleagues alike
--- Be a leader in the legal community
--- Be a leader among our team, and help us grow and attract more lawyers (and other professionals) like you
--- A strong member of a distributed team. We don't all meet in person too often, so being able to be a strong team member in a remote work setting is crucial
--- Take care of yourself so that you can take care of clients

You will do your part to bring effective conflict resolution resources to more people, by being effective in what you do with New Leaf Family, and letting our light shine!

Qualifications:
First and foremost, you have a passion for empowering clients through their current family conflict, toward a future that they may not clearly see yet. Next, you are excited about the prospect of doing this --- differently! The remainder of qualifications doesn't matter if you don't have this! (But they are still essential if you do.)
--- Skilled in the craft of family law, but not set in the deeply worn grooves of the "system" that might not be serving clients best
--- We need you to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Colorado Family Law; (please don't apply for this role if you don't. It will waste your time, and ours.) We will be posting roles for less experienced attorneys, soon! Stay tuned
--- Love finding creative solutions ... sometimes in the law ... often beyond it
--- Have a strong empathy with clients, with the ability to hear their hopes, dreams, and desires as well as deliver difficult truths to them
--- A strong ethical compass
--- Have experience, and success working collaboratively with a team .... even when remote
--- Enjoy working with a team ... but are also self-sufficient
--- Able to work independently, yet also comfortable with reaching out for assistance, and knowing when to do so
--- Proficient and self-sufficient with technology that facilitates working with a distributed team and servicing clients in ways most convenient to them
--- Excellent writing skills
--- Committed to delivering excellent client service
--- And ... of course, you are a member of the Colorado Bar ... in Good Standing
