Position Overview Space Systems Command (SSC), is the United States Space Force field command responsible for acquiring, developing, and delivering resilient capabilities to outpace emerging threats and protect our Nation’s strategic advantage in, from, and to space. SSC plays a critical role in advancing the United States's space capabilities, delivering cutting-edge solutions to protect and enhance national security. The Space Ground-Based Assets Principal is a senior-level engineering or technical role focusing on the crucial ground segment of space systems. This position involves leading and managing various aspects of ground system architecture, development, operations, and maintenance for satellite and spacecraft missions. Essential Job Function Ground Segment Architecture and Design: Designing and developing the overall ground segment architecture, including ground hardware infrastructure, mission planning software, image processing software, and computer vision algorithms. System Integration and Operations: Integrating core bus capabilities with customer payloads and missions, supporting mission operations, monitoring spacecraft health, and ensuring optimal satellite performance. Technical Leadership and Problem-Solving: Leading technical teams, providing guidance on design and implementation, analyzing complex data, and finding innovative solutions to challenges in ground system development and operations. Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with developers, engineers, product teams, and external customers to define requirements, align development plans, and ensure effective capability integration across space and ground subsystems. Agile Development and Project Management: Utilizing Agile processes and tools like Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket to manage workflow and ensure successful project delivery.
