They collaborate with other leaders and teams to ensure that application and operations releases are delivered within the deadline by managing risk and communicating plans, commitments, and essential changes. The agile release manager measures the success of our releases, working with others to continually improve and automate our release processes. The agile release manager will also be responsible for our CI/CD process and dependency mapping.The ideal candidate should be agile, a natural communicator, forward thinking in CI/CD and automation, adept at building consensus and managing via influence, and should come up with a collaborative approach to problem solving.Essential Job Functions:* Accountable for the release management lifecycle including scheduling, coordinating, and managing releases for multiple applications.* Work closely with the Software Engineering, DevOps, System Operations, Product Management, Service Management and Customer Support to plan and coordinate releases.* Make recommendations for release to product, engineering, and operations leadership.* Forward Plan the release windows, cycles, and schedule across a portfolio and maintain release calendar.* Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations.* Manage risk, identify release blockers, and ensure issues are driven to resolution.* Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business Go/No-Go reviews* Defines SLAs and KPIs. Measure release and report quality, velocity, and suess metrics and collaborates with software engineering, devops, and sysops on plan to continually improve.* Conduct release quality reviews for releases that did not meet SLOs. Recommend process improvements and release alternatives.* Continually improve the release process through automation and reduction of toil. Drives development of scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases.* Collaborates with engineering, architecture, and operations teams on new configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management need* Drives adoption of CI/CD pipeline. Drives development of automation tools and scripts necessary for building, integrating, and deploying software releases.* Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.* Collecting and tracking dependencies of different application releases on other applications/projects.* Work with software engineers, sysops engineers, devops engineers, DBAs to understand impacts of branches, and code merges, OS patches, application version updates, and configuration changes.* Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists* Participate in IT change management process to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks* Drives system dependency mapping via CMDB* Continually works towards making improvements in the release process* Communicate release details and schedules as required* Other duties as assigned.Position Requirements:* Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required; Computer Science or Engineering preferred.* 5+ years of experience in release management, preferably fulfilling an infrastructure or environments management role on a major systems delivery program.* 5+ years of experience in software engineering, architecture, or devops.* A solid technical background, with at least 4 years' experience in implementation work; for example, enterprise .Net development or infrastructure automation* A thorough grasp of agile and lean delivery concepts and methodologies, and a history of successfully applying this knowledge to manage large sized (100+ people) technical teams* Experience in a significant delivery or operational role during the go-live of at least two major web sites or other large IT systems.* Solid understanding of devops principles, organizations, tools, and processes including CI/CD.* Project management experience preferred.* Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently as well in a highly collaborative, team-based environment* Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills.Supervisory Responsibilities: (if applicable)Plays a critical role in partner development and accountability. Includes hiring, monthly documented coaching / check in's, annual performance feedback and documentation, along with building and measuring SMART goals with each partner. The ability to have transparent and crucial conversations along with managing performance improvement plans and termination as applicable. Day to day operations management of the department, displaying initiative and creative thinking to attain business objectives while streamlining processes as applicable.
