GENERAL SUMMARY The Academic Advising & Student Success Center is a part of the Student Development and Retention Unit in the Enrollment Administration and Student Success Division at the Community College of Denver. Under the direction of the Advising Operations Manager, the Advising Customer Service Coordinator is responsible for the planning and daily implementation of advising customer service functions including intake processing, phone operations, and front end triage advising for all student populations. The Advising Customer Service Coordinator also supervises the advising front desk staff made up of student employees. PRIMARY DUTIES The primary responsibility for this position is to manage the reception desk for Academic Advising, including student employees. This position triages operations at the front desk, interacts with students who have immediate need, and determines the appropriate service for them. The Coordinator also partners with advising staff to coordinate cyber center coverage, and promote marketing for student success workshops. The Coordinator provides front line support for the Academic Advising & Success Center, ressing student needs in person or over the phone. This position maintains knowledge of and supports the extenuating circumstances appeal process, course repeat process, academic reinstatement process, and program of study change requests, in order to provide seamless service to students in the absence of an advisor. The Coordinator also assists advising staff with event planning, coordination, and scheduling; supports the Director as needed; participates in college required training; submits work orders to facilities and IT; supports New Student Orientations; and other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associate's Degree. Experience: One (1) year working in student affairs in a higher education setting. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of or experience in academic advising and/or working with students in the higher education setting. Knowledge of working with underrepresented student populations including students of color, first generation and low income students. Strong computer skills including: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint). Experience using Banner student information systems and Cognos data reporting systems. Excellent written and oral communication as well as organizational skills. Must be committed to providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to students and other stakeholders. Demonstrated experience working in a high volume, deadline oriented environment. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team. Must be able to handle difficult situations and confidential material with sensitivity and professionalism. Excellent attention to detail and high standards for quality of work. Ability to understand and work with university policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree. Experience: Three (3) years working in student affairs in a higher education setting.
