GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Goodwill Industries of Denver (GID) Sales Supervisor is a vital part of achieving Goodwill's mission. The Sales Supervisor is a high energy, positive team focused member who directs the flow of service in the store and acts as the Manager on duty if the Sales Manager or Assistant Administrative Manager is not available. The Sales Supervisor partners closely with the production/donation staff and works side by side with front of the store staff to ensure quality and quantity of merchandise for the sales floor in a timely manner. The Sales Supervisor handles customer needs, makes certain of a safe work environment, trains and assists other store staff with their tasks assuring that they are performing their job well. The Sales Supervisor will display initiative, effort and commitment to carrying out GID's mission; inspires, motivates and guides others towards goal and acts in a proactive achievement-oriented manner. The position serves as a champion and model of GID's values - "FACE IT" which incorporates fun, accountability, collaboration, empowerment, innovation and transparency in all that we do. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to the success of the store in exceeding the sales, revenues and other goals.
  • Works closely with all store management to ensure quality and quantity of merchandise and displays for the sales floor.
  • Continually displays excellent salesmanship and customer service as well as service recovery when needed.
  • Makes store decisions under the direction of store management.
  • Trains employees to provide a high level of salesmanship, and on their duties, expectations and safety.
  • Uses effective written and verbal communication.
  • Uses positive interpersonal skills treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Ensures staff is treated in a fair and equitable manner. Manages Customer Loyalty programs.
  • Ensures cleanliness of the store and ensures the housekeeping standards are met.
  • Closes store according to established procedures. Enforces check and credit card policy, store security procedures and all store and company policies and procedures.
  • Gives refunds and discounts per retail store policy.
  • Makes bank deposits according to established procedures.
  • Follows all policies and procedures.
  • Works flexible schedules, weekends, evenings, holidays and overtime as required.
  • Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 months experience in a retail or related setting. RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT Employee is responsible for directing department funds in accordance with organizational policy and approved budget standards. Any technology or Goodwill property used in the normal course of employment will be under the safekeeping and the responsibility of the employee to maintain in good working order. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to display positive, enthusiastic communication with all staff and customers. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business reports/periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and apply necessary mathematical skills to address IT technical issues. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to manage appropriate budgeting practices. CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully the individual must demonstrate technical competencies associated with store support and implementation. Individual must have technical ability to troubleshoot IT issues. Specifically the individual should have strong Microsoft Office and Office skills. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES Employee must have an active Colorado driver's license aligned with Goodwill Industries of Denver's policies to drive on Goodwill business. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee will work a majority of the time in a general office environment. However, as business needs dictate, employee will travel to Goodwill Retail and Operations locations where environmental conditions may vary. Employee may travel less than 5% of the time. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical - Light Work: Lifting and Carrying Raising objects weighting up to 10 pounds constantly, up 20 pounds frequently, and up to 30 pounds occasionally to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position requiring the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. Pushing and Pulling: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward to pull, draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion exerting 10 pounds of force constantly, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 30 pounds of force occasionally. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound. Standing: Standing in one location for an extended period of time. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Repetitive Motions: Uninterrupted repetitions of the wrists, hands, fingers, elbows, or shoulders. Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Visual: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as operating office machines; preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; determining the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned. The worker is required to have visual acuity, including color, to visually inspect products for small defects at distances close to the eyes and within or at arms' length.
