This position is responsible to lead, manage, train and mentor the Refrigeration or Fixture construction project crew. Prioritize and delegate responsibilities, and interact with the general contractor or customer to ensure the Refrigeration or Fixtures construction jobs are completed efficiently, accurately and on-time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promotes and fosters teamwork within the Refrigeration or Fixtures construction project crew, monitoring the project as it proceeds, directing and leading the crew toward optimal project productivity, and workplace safety; and, appraising individual and group performance to establish a highly competent crew.
Provides support on the Refrigeration or Fixture construction job by reading and interpreting refrigeration and/or plumbing blueprints, the specifications and the scope of work. Laying out the project to ensure the crew understands their work assignments.
Provides various expertise to the job site for refrigeration piping, equipment setting, and/or fixtures, i.e.; pumping down both single and multi-plex refrigeration systems, reclaiming refrigerant from all types of systems, pipe fittings and installation.
Provides Refrigeration or Fixtures project support by coordinating with the General Contractor and customers on the project, as needed to ensure a timely and quality completion of the projects.
Provides support by managing, coordinating and following job schedules; i.e., labor hours, and material costs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of requirements for electrical lay-out
Knowledge of carpentry
Knowledge of commercial multiplex refrigeration systems, computer controlled systems, and installation procedures
Knowledge of plumbing and pipe fitting
Knowledge of blueprints, detailing refrigeration, plumbing, electrical and/or fixtures
Ability to pipe refrigeration equipment
Ability to pump down single refrigeration systems
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Good mechanical skills in the use of hand and power tools
Knowledge of jobsite safety, ability to oversee work activities to ensure safe work practices and safety rule compliance
Able to install a new job and pulling vacuums
Able to do a case lineup change out
Able to add a new circuit to an existing system
Ability to organize a medium job to minimize material ordering
Ability to maintain job hours within acceptable limits and issue change orders as needed
Must successfully complete Foreman I training program and successfully pass testing requirements
Must be proficient in the use of Projectmates
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSES:
High school diploma or equivalent work experience and trade or technical school classes
5+ years (1 year as Journeyman) level experience in the construction industry, and hands on field experience in either refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, or fixtures construction; experience in installation in supermarkets preferred.
TYPE I and II E.P.A. certified. Universal certification preferred.
Pre-employment background screening (criminal, drug screen and DMV) is required for all positions
