Job DescriptionSalary: 25-30We are seeking a very special hire
for our team in the kitchen! This is a role for anyone who is
intentional with their cooking and looking for a position that not
only requires exceptional culinary skills but also has a passion
for healthy cooking, whole-foods based nutrition & changing the
relationship people have with food! You will work closely with the
Head of Conscious Cooking and Sous Chef to bring allergen-friendly
cooking to life! Seeking A Talented Kitchen Guru Who:
- Has experience with creating and implementing training material
and holding employees accountable to that material.
- Has strong leadership skills for holding staff accountable to
healthcode standards, daily compliance of tasks, cleaning and
interpersonal staff issues and kitchen structure and
consistency
- Is comfortable with consistent change and maintains a positive
outlook while encouraging and pushing the team towards efficiency
and changes needed to support the needs of the business.
- Has a passion and deep understanding of holistic wellness

alternative ingredients to use to create recipes and dishes with

The Role The Kitchen Guru will oversee kitchen operations and
bridge the needs of the Head of Conscious Cooking the Sous Chef, as
well as the wider team. We all work together to ensure an excellent
product for the customer. Responsibilities include (but are not
limited to):Catering Meals/Weekly Prepped Meals:These were launched
in light of COVID and at this juncture there is no plan to end this
service!
- Create 90 day rolling menus of the weekly meals so we can have
this finalized far in advance for marketing, etc.
- Create and ensure bank of Weekly Prepped Meal Recipes are
updated, clear, sanitized and easily utilized by other members of
the team in your absence
- Create production and prep schedule of the weekly meals and
task others with duties as needed
- Ensure weekly meal orders go out on time, to a high
standardCatering DutiesCatering revenue in the current climate has
sharply decreased – but as that picks up here are responsibilities
for this area. You will work closely with Sous Chef and Head Chef
on these activities:
- Keep track of all pending and confirmed catering orders for
Just BE Kitchen
- Ultimate in charge of all catering orders and ensuring they are
executed on time, to budget and to standards required for Just BE
Kitchen
- Work with Kitchen Supervisor of Prep to ensure all catering
orders are executed effectively
- Ensure that other team members supporting the operation,
execution or delivery of catering orders are fully briefed and 100%
clear on any and all catering/special or private events so that we
can have a seamless operating kitchen
- Take FULL ownership of regular catering commitments from 3rd
party vendors like FoodEE, Foodsby, EZ Cater, Ritual and
others.
- In charge of creating, costing out and owning the Catering
Menu. This is to be updated and refreshed 2x a year
- Create and update a BoH Catering recipe book that is updated in
a timely fashion before each new menu launch.
- Adhere and promote a Catering process that is finalized and
agreed with Owner/Founder, which may include new technology
systems, etc. You will be expected to be the core user of this new
process.
- Maintain the Catering area and keep it clean, tidy and
organized.
- Review catering efficiencies – eg. On a quarterly basis conduct
a sense check if we are operating optimally for our catering
operations. Are we maximizing our output and getting more seamless
with each order? What are our needs? Do we need to implement new
equipment, storage, process or organization?
- Set up a catering inventory/audit so that we are not in an "oh
no" situation when we have a catering order that requires plates,
etc but that we are out of them. This is to be done ASAP to ensure
we are not making unnecessary runs to Restaurant Depot, etc.
- Liaise with Head Chef on scheduling needs to support catering
executions
- Liaise with Head Chef on ordering needs for catering
executionNew Menu/Dishes Duties:
- Play a critical part of new menu roll-out 2x per year and
support the Head of Conscious Cooking on new dishes for the menu –
participate with the Owner on menu collaboration.General
- For days off, or extended time off, be sure to create a working
schedule based on the point above so that team members are
adequately briefed and have all the tools needed to seamlessly
execute initiatives.
- Develop and enhance your Leadership and Coaching as a Manager
to supervise and train other members of the BoH team. Coach others
and lift them up where relevant.
- Leverage your role as a Manager to bring ideas, efficiencies
and to honor the requirements both financially and culturally of
the business.
- Consistently monitor labor needs and revise schedules on the
spot as needed to minimize labor and increase overall
efficiencies
- Watch food costs and ensure all of the responsibilities under
your remit are always looking at waste, and food cost % - you will
be tied to food cost percentages.
- Exceptional Health & Safety practices and hold team members
accountable for compliance
- Participate and LEAD in the development and implementation of
BOH training and Catering material with Operations Director's
guidance on consistency of material between FOH and BOH
content.
