Interventional Radiology Charge Nurse, FT Description SHIFT: No WeekendsSCHEDULE: Full-time Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center and the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, located in the heart of Denver, Colorado, serves as a regional tertiary referral center for a multi-state area. We feature over 80 specialties and 1,000 specialists and primary care physicians. For over 125 years, we have been meeting the healthcare needs of patients and their families from across the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains, and from around the world. Our staff provides compassionate and innovative care while working along side of top physicians and helping some of the most challenging and rewarding surgical and medical patients. Licensed for 680 beds, P/SL is the largest hospital in Colorado. Position Summary: The Radiology Nurse Supervisor is responsible for assessing the needs of patients in the Radiology department including diagnostic radiology, CT, MRI and IR. The Radiology Nurse Supervisor is responsible for developing a plan for the safe care of patients focusing on inpatients, transported to Radiology from inpatient floors as well as emergency patients and outpatients. The Radiology Nurse Supervisor oversees quality measures of the nursing department and works with the physicians to establish quality care guidelines for the department. In addition, the CNC develops and implements a plan of care to provide support to Interventional Radiology cases and anesthesia cases that occur in the Radiology Department in the "Circulating Nurse" role. In addition to providing the nursing support for the Radiology Department in its entirety, the Radiology Nurse Supervisor oversees the Interventional Radiology department to ensure the safe and appropriate delivery of care during all interventional procedures. He/She is responsible for developing staffing plans that meet the need of the Interventional and Radiology Departments. Current BLS certification, ACLS certification and PALS certification.Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.Experience: At least two years acute care/specialty nursing is desirable in area of specialty. At least one year previous experience in charge/supervisory or management position.Special Qualifications: Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate care within the Standards of Nursing practice at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center. Demonstrates good critical thinking skills. Displays leadership and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. Able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of nursing theory and practice.Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Patient Care Director and the Chief Nursing Officer. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Ages of Patients Served:This position requires knowledge of growth and developmental needs of patients and families. Personnel in this position must recognize and respond to the behaviors of patients and families in each age category. The employee must be able to demonstrate the special skills required to care for patients and their families according to standards. (The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.)
