Our SCL Health Saint Joseph Hospital Radiation Team is very excited about expanding their team The selected associate will be required to demonstrate expertise in care and the precise delivery of the prescribed dose of radiation to patients undergoing Radiation Therapy. As a Radiation Therapist you need to know how to: -- Administer radiation therapy as prescribed by the physician. -- Maintain accurate and detailed electronic treatment chart documentation. -- Obtain patient identification, setup, and treatment field photographs. -- Perform treatment planning imaging (diagnostic, fluoroscopy, CT, ultrasound) as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, positioning the patient in proper orientation using positioning aids and immobilization devices; work with physician to obtain optimum fields of treatment though the use of CT simulation. -- Operate linear accelerator by setting appropriate controls on the console and activating the machine to deliver prescribed treatment as indicated on the treatment plan while monitoring patient and equipment during treatment. -- Utilize sophisticated imaging equipment and treatment planning systems for precise tumor localization; perform portal imaging and image guidance radiation therapy (stereoscopic guidance, cone beam CT, or ultrasound) procedures prior to radiation therapy treatment delivery. -- Perform quality assurance procedures on linear accelerator and simulator prior to daily patient procedures to ensure accuracy; detect non-standard performance of equipment and communicate appropriately according to departmental procedures. -- Observe the clinical progress of the radiation oncology patient, use clinical decision making skills to recognize and communicate any signs of complications. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require: -- Associate Degree or equivalent, preferred -- Completion of a two year accredited Radiation Therapy program, required -- ARRT (R) (T) registry, required -- Thorough knowledge of radiation safety, required -- At least one (1) year of experience as a Radiation Therapist, preferred Your next move.
