Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY Apply for position at to be considered!The triage Medical Assistant provides clinical and clerical support to Pain Doctor patients and health care staff.This position has no direct reports.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Clinical functions:
    • Managing incoming calls from Pain Doctor patients with medical related concerns
    • Prioritizing and appropriately escalating triage phone calls based on clinical need
    • Scheduling patients as appropriate for office visits
    • Process medication refills
    • Fill in as clinic MA when assigned/needed
    • Communicating patient concerns to appropriate Pain Doctor clinical provider
    • Ensure follow up for Moderate and High level concerns are addressed
    • Assist with troubleshooting patient calls related to post procedure concerns, prescription refills and pharmacy communication (not limited to calling prescriptions into the patient’s pharmacy)
    • Prepare and process Pain Doctor patient disengagement letters per protocol
    • Obtain surgical clearances for patients for ordered procedures
    • Act as a patient advocate when providing communication between patient, Pain Doctor staff and/or outside clinical facilities (ex: hospitals, physician offices, laboratories, pharmacies)
      • Clerical functions:
        • Proficient utilization of Pain Doctor’s electronic medical record (EMR)
        • Document communication between triage, the patient and/or Pain Doctor’s staff in a clear, concise manner that will allow those reviewing call notes easy interpretation
        • As necessary, gather faxed reports, review and contact patient as necessary for appropriate follow up (immediate office visit (OV) versus routine OV)
        • Record patient conversations as appropriate for quality assurance
        • Complete and appropriately document post procedure follow up phone call REQUIREMENTSEducation & Experience, Knowledge/Understanding
          • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
            • Completed accredited medical assistant program as applicable
            • First-Aid/CPR Certified
            • EMR Experience
            • Possess solid grasp of Medical terminologySkills
              • Superb verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
              • Effective public speaking and presentation skills - Ability to make presentations to a wide variety of audiences
              • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in high-pressure situations
              • Excellent interpersonal /customer service skills and demeanor
              • Proficient in the use of a PC; in a Windows environment; in the use of the Internet; and in the use of MS Office Applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
              • Proficient in the use of EHR systemsAbilities
                • Basic conceptual and analytical skills to include ability to break down concrete problems into parts and organize information in a concise manner; to gathers input from appropriate players; to identify the links between the information and the context; to use common sense, past experience and basic rules to identify key underlying issues and to problem-solve; to consider relevant facts and alternatives when making decisions; and to be open to new ideas.
                • Ability to work both independently managing multiple projects, as well as collaboratively working with leaders of other functions areas to achieve common goals
                  • Ability to handle high stress situations
                    • Ability to drive results in a team-oriented environment

                      • Frequent walking, standing, carrying, lifting, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, squatting with light to moderate physical effort
                      • Must be able to safely support the full weight of a patient when necessary and observe safe practices when assisting patients
                      • It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Lifting up to 40-50 pounds may occasionally be required, depending on the specific type of care provided. PREFERENCES
                        • Previous experience as a medical assistant
                        • Bilingual
