Primary Purpose of the Position
Provides technical environmental, health and safety support to Ball
Corporation with the goal of maintaining continual compliance,
determining cost-effective compliance solutions, developing
long-term compliance strategies, and implementation of
environmental, health and safety management systems.
Essential Responsible Areas:
- Initiates, prepares and reviews for approval prior to submittal
to environmental regulatory agencies the following: permit
applications, reports, compliance plans, emission information,
questionnaires, variance requests, and general correspondence
concerning plant operations.
- Provides technical support to plants, licensees, joint
ventures, and Engineering.
- Negotiates with regulatory agencies on environmental, and
health and safety matters directly affecting the Business and
coordinates comments to regulatory agencies on proposed
environmental regulations.
- Prepares for and testifies at hearings of regulatory boards,
agencies, and cases for judicial review and other court ordered
actions.
- Tracks federal, state, and local environmental, health and
safety regulations that potentially impact Ball Corporation and
advises POC and plant management of compliance requirements.
- Participates in efforts to establish and maintain liaison with
government agencies.
- Initiates and investigates plant environmental, health and
safety issues, researches alternative solutions, conceives and
implements solutions.
- Prepares and effectively delivers environmental, health and
safety presentations as required to internal and external
customers.
- Coordinates and effectively delivers environmental, health and
safety training courses and assists in the development of such
courses as required.
- Conducts environmental, health and safety assessments to
evaluate plant compliance with regulatory and company programs, and
identify operations, work practices, or materials which may present
an unacceptable health or environmental risk.
- Evaluates results of assessment reports and provides
recommendations to decrease incident/accident rates improve
compliance position, increase operations or department efficiency
or reduce costs.
- Establishes environmental, health and safety management systems
based on principles contained in the ISO 14001, 45001, ANSI Z-10
standards, not all inclusive.
- Assists in the collection of industrial hygiene samplings as
directed by Ball industrial hygiene personnel.
- Accompanies state and federal regulatory inspectors on
environmental, health and safety-related plant inspections or
personal monitoring, following established inspection
procedures.
- Completes routine visits to plants and assists as
required/requested on matters of EHS compliance. While the regular
working cycle of this position is usually 5 days on
(Monday-Friday), this job may include working weekends (Saturday
and Sunday), working hours may vary as specified by management.
Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or
be on call as directed by management. Position Requirement &
Competencies:
- Broad training in a related field usually acquired through
college or work-related experience
- Job related experience for 4 year(s) minimum
- Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and
substantial adaptation and modification of standard environmental,
health and safety techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Working knowledge of the following areas: Engineering
principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures.
- Complete understanding of the following areas: health, safety,
environmental compliance regulations.
- Travel Requirement- 40%
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hiring Salary Range: $78,400-$117,415 (Salary to be determined by
the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and
abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market
data.)
