RN Clinical Nurse Educator (Job ID: 7546)Job SummaryUnder
minimal supervision, assists in developing and implementing initial
training, future training and care team development programs for
assigned areas. Conducts ongoing education for the team and is
responsible for assuring the competency of the professional nurse
and unlicensed personnel in those assigned areas. Evidence of
competency is reviewed and documented at least annually and is
based upon the most recent evidence and best practices. Lead the
departments evidences base orientation program.
Adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of
professional nursing practice / process and performance, and the
ANA Code of Ethics (2015)* to provide care to all healthcare
consumers. Applies critical thinking, evidence-based practices and
competence to collaborate with the health care team to promote
excellence in healthcare consumer safety and quality outcomes.
Utilizes the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in daily practice.

Welcome to the opportunity of your career! As the Clinical Nurse
Educator of this brand new 23 bed unit planned to open in June
2021, you will be responsible for the creation and distribution of
education materials and training of staff that provide care to
emergency department patients placed on observation status. The
intent of this unit is to provide focused, quality care to patients
who present to the emergency department but do not meet full
admission requirements. Examples of patients cared for in this
protocol-driven unit will be those suffering from chest pain,
asthma, allergic reactions, trauma re-evaluations and back pain.
This flexible hours role will be a split staffing/educator position
with 0.6 FTE dedicated towards the CNE role and 0.3 staffing on the

Responsibilities* Facilitate learning by creating an environment
that supports achievement of desired cognitive, affective, and
psychomotor outcomes.
* Develop competency outcomes and designing curricula that reflect
educational needs of the department/organization
* Teach courses and provide training to licensed nurses and
unlicensed personal
* Develop maintain and revise learning modules and lesson plans
* Utilize a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate knowledge
and competencies.
* Engage in policy development and revisions through research,
analysis, consultation and synthesis of information.
* Incorporate evidence-based research into education plans, patient
treatment plans, and nursing practices
* Promote critical thinking among nurses, and show commitment to
professional development and lifelong learning
* Serves as a mentor to nurses, and identify growth opportunities
and education needs for practicing nurses
* Maintain current knowledge of trends in area of expertise
* Able to perform essential duties of direct reporting
positions
* Pursues community and academic engagement
* Support and implementation of organizational initiatives and
strategic planning
* Pursue continuous quality improvements and patient safety and
quality care
* Promote patient experience

*Knowledge of Joint Commission and other federal, state and local
regulatory requirements impacting Clinical Observation Units.
*Familiarity with CMS regulations surrounding observation status
patients. *Knowledge and adherence to standard pathways and
guidelines of care common to observation patients.
* Strong understanding and display of the principals of customer
service as it applies to patients, staff and the community
* Ability to assist in identifying ways to promote quality
patient-centric care and maintain Denver Health's high level of

to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels and in a cross

* Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary staff, charge
nurses, clinical nurse educator(s), and Nursing Managers,
providers,, executive leadership to provide care to patients with
respect to their uniqueness using informed judgment, competence,
individual qualifications, and collaboration with the health care
team.
* Ability to demonstrate an understanding of assessment findings as
they relate to the disease process and continuum of care.
* Supports compliance with national patient safety goals,
accrediting agency standards, and quality initiatives.
* Evaluates practice in relation to professional standards,
statues, regulatory requirements, hospital and departmental
policies, and standards of care.
* Promotes quality care by redefining priorities for care based on
evaluation of healthcare consumer/family response or changing
condition.
* Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Master Degree in
Nursing or related field preferred.
* 3 years direct patient care nursing experience.
* Master's Degree Experience Credentials * Registered Nurse
(Required) * Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of
Colorado or a participating compact state.
* National board certification is a preference and encouraged for
all nurse leaders
* *Specialty certifications as required or recommended per unit
All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept
current as a condition of continued employment
* Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Colorado or
