Thisincludes everything from scene responses on remote stretches of
highway totransport of patients from rural hospitals to major
receiving centers andDenver area transfers of patients going to
specialty centers for emergentinterventions. The rapid response and

higher levels of care can significantly improveoutcomes for our
patients.
AIRLIFE serves a ten-state region including Colorado,
Wyoming,Montana, Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Texas
and South Dakota.AirLife serves these areas through the use of
rotor and fixed wing aircraft, aswell as ground ambulances and
makes safety and efficiency our guidingprinciples on every
transport. Air ambulance licensure is maintained inboth Colorado
and Wyoming, which are home to our operational and crew bases. Here
issome of what you can expect from being an AirLife Chief Flight
Nurse:
- TheChief Flight Nurse (CFN) serves as a leader, clinical
resource person, rolemodel, coach and facilitator for staff and
department operations for day to dayoperations. The CFN
providesclinical management through organizing, coordinating, and
monitoring the careprovided across AirLife.
- Will typically work inthe office M-F in addition to routinely
functioning in the role of a transportnurse and is routinely
scheduled as such. Will not be scheduled fortransport shifts on
weekends or holidays. Functions regularly asadministrator on
call.
- Demonstrates advancedknowledge and skills in critical care
transport of patients, and with theClinical Director assures proper
adherence and tracking of requirements. TheCFN delegates duties
consistent with the scope of practice and function withinthe
philosophy and overall plan of care at AirLife
- Has fundamentalknowledge of licensure and accreditation
requirements. Helps assureAirLifes compliance to regulatory
agencies to include CAMTS, JCAHO, andlicensure standards in all
states AirLife has regular operations. Responsible for the
oversight of any necessary state waivers related to ourparamedic
practice. Assures proper data collection and reporting relatedto
these regulatory standards.
- Assures compliancewith the DEA and HCA requirements related to
controlled substance handling on aday to day basis. Assures
compliance with pharmacy audits, teamdocumentation, and appropriate
handling of controlled substances. Assuresimmediate reporting of
any discrepancies or concerns to the Clinical Director.
- Assures adherence tostandards for carrying blood products and
is responsible for managing the dailyoperations related to
this.
- In coordination withthe AirLife Medical Directors and Clinical
Director assures quality patientcare. Supervises the provision of
care in accordance with the MedicalDirectors. Works with the
educators in the identification and provisionof educational
activities for the staff.
- Directly participatesin interviewing, hiring, promotion and
corrective action for any directreports. Actively participates with
other leadership in rounding with allteam members and annual
evaluations. Involved with the development andoversight of direct
reports. Responsible for managing disciplinarymatters in a manner
that promotes Just Culture, as well as open and
honestreporting.
- Leads team in clinicalmatters and assists in organizational
matters. Leads and oversees delivery ofpatient care. Leads team in
such a way as to promote a Just Culture, a sense ofbelonging, team
effectiveness, accountability for clinical and personalconduct, low
employee turnover, high morale, regularly recognizes staffclinical
accomplishments, and encourages growth and development. Is vested
inthe mission of the organization and AirLife Denvers role as a
leading healthcare provider.
- As part of thehospitals and programs management team,
communicates information to and fromstaff. Maintains a positive
communication style, keeps employees informed,listens to staff,
investigates and resolves issues. Collaborates withmanagement,
physicians, patients, and co-workers to promote effective
teamworkand problem-solving. Keeps Clinical Director and Director
of BusinessOperations informed of potential issues that may require
his or her attention.Regularly reports on the teams activities and
actions so leadership staysinformed of work unit status. Initiates
communication with others to bepro-active in problem resolution. Is
assertive and responsible in developingand maintaining high levels
