Job Description: We are seeking a Health and Safety Director (HSD) who will work with Executive and Senior Management, Program and Project Managers and technical personnel to establish a safe and healthy workplace at TechLaw Consultants and its affiliated operating divisions. The HSD should have 10+ years of experience in health and safety document/plan development and implementation, oversight of environmental field operations, and experience in the implementation of corporate health and safety policies and procedures. The individual will implement a comprehensive health and safety program to verify that workplace hazards are eliminated, document accidents in the workplace and investigate the circumstances of an illness or injury. The HSD is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to verify a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees.
This position will ideally be located in one of TechLaw Consultants' 13 offices nationwide and will provide support for our environmental consulting work for the Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency, other Federal, State and local government agencies, commercial/industrial clients, and non-profits. Our scientists, engineers, and project managers are experts in hydrogeology, geology, chemistry, risk assessment, soil science, sampling and analysis, hazardous waste investigations, remediation, and public outreach who assist the Department of Defense, EPA, other government agencies, and non-profits on various contracts throughout the U.S.
TechLaw offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, a benefits package, training (40-hour OSHA, 8-hour OSHA Refresher), and medical monitoring. We will provide the ideal candidate a collaborative environment with opportunities for learning and expanding knowledge and skills.
Salary Range: $90,000-$145,000 DOE
Required Qualifications:

• 
  
• A bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related technical field. A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, physics, or engineering from an ABET-accredited program is acceptable. A master's degree is preferred.
  
• Minimum of 10 years of experience implementing a comprehensive health and safety program
  
• Board certified in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene (CIH) by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC)
  
• Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time is required.
  
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat
  
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  
• Good written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  
• Ability to work independently, while remaining team oriented
  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment; flexible and quickly adaptable to changing priorities
  
• Fully vaccinated for access to federal facilities and project sites
  
  Duties/Responsibilities:
  
  • 
    
  • Develop health and safety procedures for all areas of the company
    
  • Prepare, schedule and present training classes to identify workplace hazards, respond to emergency conditions, ship hazardous materials, and other relevant topics
    
  • Monitor compliance with safety procedures
    
  • Report results of field inspections and accident investigations to Division Managers, as well as members of the company management team
    
  • Review incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer workplace
    
  • Provide technical support to project managers and site supervisors, with examples to develop and implement the applicable health and safety plan and activity hazard analyses for the worksite
    
  • Draft inspection reports to document site safety conditions and related findings
    
  • Implement the requirements of OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) program, 29 CFR 1910.120
    
  • Develop and implement safety and health plans that are compliant with the requirements of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, EM-385-1 safety requirements manual
    
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

      • Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and be able to drive a company provided vehicle
