Job Summary and PurposeTennyson Center's K-12 Day Treatment
School focuses on meeting the individualized needs of children and
adolescents. The Day Treatment program provides a 4:1
student-to-staff ratio that integrates social, emotional,
behavioral, and academic learning and growth. Our goal is to create
a learning environment where children and adolescents feel safe and
supported to heal and develop the necessary skills to succeed in a
less restrictive setting. Tennyson Center is seeking a qualified
recreational therapist to support children and adolescents ages
5-18 in a trauma sensitive, developmentally diverse, individual or
group-like setting by planning and implementing recreational
interventions designed to promote skill development and meet
specific goals and objectives of a treatment plan. This position is
for a **One year assignment**.Essential Job FunctionsAssess and
establish recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to
meet the individual needs of clients ages 5-18 years old and
provide input on Clinician treatment plans, as appropriateDevelop
engaging programming based on diversity of participants, interests,
and needsCoordinates therapeutic recreational activities for both
individuals and groups to support skill developmentEvaluate
progress and effectiveness of recreational therapy
interventionsWorks collaboratively with clients on internal and
external multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
Completes all necessary paperwork in a timely, accurate and
thorough manner including but not limited to, treatment planning,
progress notes and other required documentation Must be able to
lead, manage and supervise a group of up 12 children or adolescents
on average. Must be able to work independently, communicate
effectively and be flexibleExperience working with diverse
populations Other Job FunctionsAbility to provide resources and
recommendations to clients and families regarding recreational
resources in their communityParticipates in organizational
trainings and meetings as requiredOther duties requested or
assigned Physical RequirementsAbility to implement behavioral

required to be on-site 100% of timeMinimal travel may be
requiredMinimum QualificationsBS Degree in Recreation/Therapeutic
Recreation requiredCTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation
Specialist) requiredRelated experience in an educational setting
with children K-12 with emotional disabilities and other learning
challenges. Knowledge of program development and implementation
preferredKnowledge of the principles, practices, standards, and
techniques of Recreation TherapyValid CO Driver's LicenseMust be at
least 21 years of ageAbility to be Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
(TCI) trained and TCI refreshers maintained over the course of
