Job Description:

The CFN (Chief Flight Nurse) is responsible for the safety, leadership and day to day management of the CHCO (Children's Hospital Colorado) Flight Team in partnership with GMR (Global Medical Response). The position reports to the Director of Flights, EMS Outreach and Education. The CFN is responsible for aligning policies and practices through collaboration with GMR, GMR's Program Director, CHCO and our multi-disciplinary medical director group.-- POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

  • Infancy - > 30 days to 1yr
  • Toddlers - > 1yr to 3yrs
  • Pre-Schoolers - > 3yrs to 5yrs
  • School age - > 5yrs to 13yrs
  • Adolescent - > 13yrs to 18yrs
  • Adult - > 18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
    • Assure the safe day to day operations of the Children's Flight Team in accordance with all GMR, CHCO and CAMTS (The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems)
    • Participate as a member on the GMR Safety Committee
    • Participate as a member of the GMR Clinical and Operations Committee's
    • Assume a leadership role in development of evidence based clinical guidelines and policies in collaboration with GMR's clinical committee, medical directors, CHCO and the Directors of CHCO and GMR's transport programs
    • Assume a leadership role through coordination and participation in Outreach and Educational activities to support the mission of CHCO & GMR
    • Assume a leadership role in fundraising activities to benefit CHCO and GMR
    • Professional development of team members
    • Ensure the highest standards for customer service and adherence to CHCO's standards of behavior by all team members
    • Responsibility for fiscal management and stewardship resources of the Children's Flight Team in collaboration with CHCO and GMR
    • Facilitate monthly team meetings
    • Facilitate monthly multi-disciplinary medical director meetings
    • Assure compliance with program QA/QI initiatives including overseeing the peer review, clinical management review and medical director review process
    • Maintain excellent working relations with all flight programs in the region
    • Leadership and oversight responsibilities of orientation of new employees in collaboration with CHCO and GMR
    • Manage Human resource projects in partnership with the HR Client Service Manager including, hiring, safety, mentoring, developing, evaluating and retention of staff SCOPE & LEVEL Guidelines: Guidelines are in the form of stated goals and objectives for function. Complexity: Work assignment is unstructured, and leader is responsible for implementing and managing a variety of objectives, resources, and initiatives to achieve the goals of the function. Duties performed include operational planning; developing standards, priorities, guidelines, processes, measurement (evaluation) systems; implementation of production and performance management standards; and allocating resources. Work is tactical and operational in nature. Decision Making: Employee is responsible for planning, organizing, allocating resources, ensuring compliance with procedures, and achieving the objectives of the function. Communications: Communication at this level is primarily internally focused and involves establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with team members, peers, directors, and executives. Provides guidance and interpretation of the enterprise's policies, procedures, and standards. Provides information to higher-level directors and executives. Supervision Received: Responsible for achieving the objectives of function within the scope of established guidelines. Employee is expected to resolve problems that arise in the normal course of the work. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and feasibility of decisions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's in health-related field required or in process. Experience: Five years of clinical experience, to include two years of experience on a transport team. Equivalency: None Certification(s):--
      • BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire.
