Full Time Denver Health Medical Center (DHMC) is recruiting for a full time Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Emergency Departments Observation Unit. The Observation unit at Denver Health treats patients with a mixture of issues including but not limited to cellulitis, chest pain, acute kidney injury, acute intoxication, etc. The observation unit is primary staffed by advanced care providers with 24 hour physician attending support. This position will be a part of the core staffing of our observation unit in our Level I ED. The Emergency Department at DHMC is a Level One Academic Medical Center and sees more than 75,000 patients per year, serves as the host for the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine, provides medical direction for the Denver Health Paramedic Division and 911 system for the City and County of Denver and is an academic affiliate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Health Sciences. The adult ED encompasses 38 dedicated acute treatment spaces and a 20 bed ED observation unit and our fast track. Staffing is provided by board-certified emergency physicians, advanced care providers, PGY 1- 4 residents, and emergency medicine sub specialty fellows. As Colorado's primary safety net institution DHMC provides over 300 million dollars in uncompensated care every year. One year of experience is preferred but not required. Under the supervision of a physician, the NP performs professional medical work in the examination, diagnosis and treatment of patients according to statutory limitations. Examines and diagnoses patients and develops treatment plans. Performs testing, referral to physicians as needed, writes prescriptions, and performs administrative procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols and available equipment. May perform administrative support functions as required. One year of experience is preferred and experience in a fast track and observation unit is preferred.-- Benefits of practicing at Denver Health include:
