The STUDENT NURSE TECH supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke'sMedical Center of optimizing quality of life of all those served by expandingbeyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the wholeperson. The Student Nurse Tech assists in the provision of individualizednursing care based on the developmental needs of the patient under thedirection of a registered nurse and in accordance with the standards ofnursing care and practice. The Student Nurse Tech is responsible for obtainingand charting of vital signs HR, BP, temp, RR, assisting withADL's, and measuring of I's and O's. In addition, they will startand discontinue IV's and Foley catheters and dressing changes. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: BLS - Healthcare provider. EDUCATION: Must be currently enrolled in an approved school ofnursing; successful completion of at least one full semester of clinicalnursing that includes nursing fundamentals. EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in nursing fundamentals includingstarting and discontinuing IVs, insertion and removal of Foley Catheter,and wound care. Proof of competencies required from school of nursing. DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Involves general guidance and directionby the Patient Care Director, Nurse Manager and Unit Charge Nurse. Employeewill be expected to perform most job duties under the direction of aregistered nurse and in accordance with established departmental and hospitalpolicies and procedures. PRESBYTERIAN ST.
