Smithfield Foods and our Sales teams are consistently evolving andlooking for individuals that can help foster relationships and achieve resultsto impact our bottom line!As a Sales Team member, your primary responsibility would be introducing andplacing new products with customers, executing organizational initiatives,and driving sales on key items with strategic customers for long-term growth.Whether it is bacon, ham, fresh pork or another product category you willwork directly with the customers and cross-functional with everyone fromBusiness Management to our Plant Operations to deliver the service andproducts to our customers and consumers.Responsible for the maintenance and growth of national chain accounts. Workswith marketing, business and trade to develop sales programs. Introduces andplaces new products with customers, executes organizational initiatives anddevelops programs to drive sales of key items with strategic customers forlong-term growth. Manages and develops broker partnerships and retail orfoodservice execution for key customers.Core ResponsibilitiesSales CallsMakes sales calls in relation to national and regional account chains topromote growth of current accounts.Establish Business with Existing AccountsMaintains established business with existing accounts for continued growth.Product Management and Research and Development EffortsKeeps informed of product management and research and development efforts inorder to increase sales and satisfy customer requests for new items.Communication with Managers and Brokers and Customer ServiceEstablishes and maintains open communication with Regional Managers andBrokers on all customer activities.Works with corporate to ensure quick resolution of any customer serviceissues.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level ofwork being performed by people assigned to this job. The requirements listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform theessential functions.Bachelor's degree and 8 plus years of experience in retail or foodservicemeat trade; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Existing customer contacts with large National chain accounts, preferred.Must understand the dynamics of the food business and how the account ispositioned in the retail or foodservice channel.Must have a solid understanding of customer focused and fact based selling,including IRI, Neilsen and Perishable Group data.Understanding of product cuttings - comfort and knowledge of productattributes, preferred.Previous supervisory experience, preferred.Ability to influence others not directly under his or her authority.Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.High level of written and verbal communication skills, organizationalplanning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while buil
