Global Compliance Director North America-North America-United States-CO-Loveland Job Summary: The Water Platform Global Compliance Director is primarily responsible for developing, executing, and managing the trade compliance program that is aligned with each Water Platform OpCo s business strategy and supply chain. Other responsibilities will include assisting with Data Privacy compliance oversight and resolution of compliance related red flags. This position requires a person with genuine humility and a willingness to take on tactical roles, as needed, to complete objectives from time-to-time while sustaining the strategic path for the Platform. The Director needs to possess patience and agility to adjust to a dynamic and growing business environment, while monitoring and continuously improving the program. The Director is also responsible for overseeing the development of Platform and OpCo trade compliance team members to ensure they possess the skills and experience necessary to support the program and the needs of the Platform OpCos. The Director will advise Platform and OpCo leaders about trade compliance matters, conduct trade compliance audits and investigations, oversee trade compliance training, and work with various functions impacting trade compliance to ensure appropriate controls are implemented. Primary Responsibilities: * Design and implement a strategic trade compliance program that is aligned with international trade rules and each Platform OpCo s business strategy and value chain and supply chain; * Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Platform s value chain and supply chain to advise Water Platform Legal and Compliance and OpCo leaders on risks and opportunities and to ensure ongoing relevance to the trade compliance program; * Ongoing advisement and consultation with OpCo leaders regarding OpCo trade compliance programs; * Lead Platform and OpCo trade compliance team members in maintaining a relevant trade compliance program for their businesses; * Coordinate ongoing implementation of Danaher Corporation s Data Privacy program and oversee the Water Platform s Data Privacy compliance effort; * Evaluate and remediate compliance red flags; * Ongoing professional development of the Platform and OpCo trade compliance team members to ensure they have the knowledge and tools necessary to perform their trade compliance roles; * Ensure OpCo trade compliance team members are actively engaged in OpCo strategic business and supply chain changes to ensure an ongoing relevant trade compliance program; * Demonstrate ongoing leadership to Platform and OpCo trade compliance members to ensure they appropriately balance OpCo compliance and business strategies against day-to-day operations; championing the cause with OpCo leaders to ensure the right priorities are being focused on by OpCo Compliance teams; * Oversee the management of Platform OpCos global single source of truth for international trade data elements (e.g., tariff numbers, country of origin, ECCN designations etc.); * Identify opportunities to increase efficiencies within existing processes, including, where relevant, recommending and implementing systems to improve current trade compliance processes; * Identify opportunities to achieve cost-savings through various free trade and other duty-preferential programs; * Work closely with Transfer Pricing and Finance teams regarding Transfer Pricing/Customs valuation methodology, Transfer Pricing adjustments/changes, and statutory additions to value compliance (assists, royalties, etc.); * Manage documentary due diligence for key positions taken relative to international trade (e.g., customs valuation, tariff number determinations) across the supply chain; * Maintain a trade compliance training and communication program, including a trade compliance intranet site; * Review, escalate and respond to government inquiries related to trade compliance; * Manage internal and external audits and investigation under the supervision of the Chief Compliance Officer and Water Platform Legal; and * Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with compliance program projects. * 10+ years relevant international trade and customs experience; * 3 5 years of employee Supervisory or Managerial experience; * Demonstrable experience advising US and non-US companies on international trade matters; * Background in trade consulting preferred; * BS in accounting, finance or related field is required; * JD or MBA preferred; * Ability to quickly and concisely brief non-technical persons (e.g., OpCo leaders) on technical topics in-person or in written format; * Extensive knowledge of import and export trade laws and regulations as they relate to embargos, sanctions and controlled product, technology and software; * Extensive understanding of applicable export, re-export and deemed licensing requirements; * Deep experience with global valuation-specific regulations that impact trade and compliance, including customs valuation hierarchy and methodology, and transfer pricing methodologies; * Extensive data analysis skills, including the ability to work independently or self-learn; * Working knowledge of general enterprise resource planning data structures; * Ability to influence across the Platform and to interact with persons at all levels; comfortable working cooperatively with other OpCo functions and indirectly leading team members in a matrixed environment; * Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint), and database software; * Excellent verbal and written communication skills; * High accuracy and attention to detail; * Critical thinking and excellent problem solving and analytical skills; * Strong project and people management skills; * Capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing with excellent time management skills; * Ability to handle confidential information appropriately; * Capable of working independently and collaboratively plus experienced and competent in making good judgment calls; and * General understanding of at least one non-trade compliance-related subject matter area (such as anti-corruption, data privacy, and/or anti-money laundering) and knowledge regarding key online guidance/resources.
