The incumbent implements, manages, audits, and maintains the Western Area Power Administration's Emergency Management Program policies, orders and guidelines in selected regional offices under the Director of Security and Emergency Management and technical direction of the senior Emergency Management Specialist. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities Under the direction of WAPA's Emergency Management Lead, the incumbent coordinates and manages regional implementation of Western's Emergency Management programs, formulating and executing the program following the WAPA's Emergency Management Program Order, federal laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOE policies and industry best practices. Incumbent is expected to research and apply subject matter expertise and knowledge to seek out and provide an array of alternative solutions for site-specific needs, where normal standards are not feasible, or obtainable, based on resources, while maintaining appropriate mitigation strategies. Implements and maintains standardized emergency management processes and procedures. The incumbent provides WAPA's senior Emergency Management Specialist and regional leadership subject matter expert advice on program direction and interpretation including policy development, analysis of new and existing policies, and problem solving for organizational wide issues. Above duties are at the GS-12 level. For the lower grade level, incumbent will perform a wide range of tasks described in the above duties, but at a lower level of work designed to further develop and refine the knowledge and skills of the incumbent. Assignments will typically combine productive work with on-going training and instruction. Supervision received at the lower level will be closer with oversight and review being provided more frequently. Travel Required Occasional travel - Overnight travel of approximately 20% to offices and field sites is required. 'Experience' refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
