Who is the ideal Candidate?

The Pinyon team is a collection of collaborative experts driven toward excellent project delivery. The ideal candidate will have a challenging directive of expanding on and executing business in the local and state market, however, they would not be expected to carry the entirety of the load themselves. The candidate will be supported by our entire staff who will often lead tactical initiatives and support overall strategic objectives. Pinyon is looking for a person with vision, who can develop a strategy, build internal consensus on where we want to go, and deliver results, expanding our work in the state and local municipality market. We fully expect that the candidate will be a self-starter and be able to define the objectives of this opportunity and execute an action plan to deliver.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated project management experience, an understanding of numerous technical disciplines, expertise in one of our technical service areas, and be able to manage complex projects and multi-disciplined teams. They would also have demonstrated experience as a seller/doer, being able to build partnerships with partner firms, project owners, contractors, and regulatory agencies. As a "seller" the candidate would be excited about growth, frequently engage in professional organizations, networking events, and other business development activities. As a "doer" the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse range of projects and completing technical tasks.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic market plan that maintains and expands our market share - developing a 3-year vision, annual goals, and quarterly objectives
  • Tracking progress towards the strategic plan metrics and reporting out
  • Building/furthering deep and trusting relationships with owners, engineering firms, and contractors
  • Outlining and completing business development activities for themselves and supporting the Pinyon Team members
  • Proactively identifying leads and opportunities
  • Writing/reviewing proposals
  • Participating in professional organizations (attending events and getting involved in leadership roles)
  • Managing projects and completing technical tasks

    What are the minimum requirements?

    • Demonstrated experience as a strategic thinker and implementor
    • 10+ years of demonstrated experience as a strong project manager with technical expertise in one of Pinyon's core technical service areas (e.g., water resources, due diligence/remediation, environmental compliance, environmental engineering, restoration ecology, planning, natural resources including biology, habitat, wetlands, etc.)
    • Bachelor's degree and/or experience in environmental discipline (e.g., water resources engineering, civil or environmental engineering, environmental science, biology, environmental planning, geomorphology)
    • Employment is contingent upon the results of a background check.

      Cover Letter

The cover letter should clearly describe and demonstrate the Candidate's experience in strategic growth and business development, project management and specific technical experience, and the Candidate's vision for growing business across all technical sectors as described in this posting. We are looking for an outside-the-box thinker; someone with energy and vision; someone with the ability to critically evaluate opportunities, develop clear objectives, and act on them.
