      About Fort Logan
      This position is located at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan (CMHIFL). CMHIFL is a 94 bed psychiatric facility located in Denver that is dedicated to meeting the needs of the community by providing mental health treatment to adult clients in the metro area. The mission of CMHIFL is to provide the highest quality mental health services to persons of with complex, serious and persistent mental illness within the resources available.

      Our goal is to assist patients in returning successfully to the community as soon as possible. The treatment program is designed with the Recovery Philosophy as the basis for the various therapy modalities offered, which include but are not limited to: Individual and group therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Medication & health teaching, Family therapy & education, WRAP groups - wellness recover action plan (integrate WRAP (individual disposition planning), Work therapy, Mindfulness skills - deep breathing, Substance abuse education and Chaplain Services. Our goal is to be a partner in treatment with patients and their families, assisting them on their road to recovery. We attempt to maintain a safe, kind, and supportive environment of healing through our respectful customer service.

      Description of Job

      *We are filling multiple positions from this posting both Full-Time and Part-Time/Pool.*

      This position exists to provide supervision, clinical/administrative nursing consultation, and direction to registered nurses and nursing assistive personnel on the assigned shift to assure the delivery of quality patient care through the nursing process in accordance with the nursing and hospital wide standards. Responsible for maintaining safe, adequate coverage for the inpatient units on the assigned shift. Serves as a resource or guide by advising others on how to use processes within a system or as a member of a collaborative problem-solving team.

      Work environment:

      Sometimes difficult customers/patients, locked units, interactive, fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented, requirement to make immediate and critical decisions, and a high level of accountability for patient care. High level of professional responsibility for the employee to maintain updated skills, knowledge, abilities and competencies necessary to the position through continuing education, clinical supervision, literature review and participating in discipline and team development.

      Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

      Minimum Qualifications:
      • Valid Registered Nurse License from the State of Colorado or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact and
      • Three (3) years of professional experience as a registered nurse.
        Substitution:
        • There is no substitution for the required license.
        • A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in nursing may substitute for up to two years of required experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred qualifications: Experience in long term care or assisted living facility; experience with staff development.
          • Experience in long term care or assisted living facility;
          • Experience as a supervisor;
          • Experience working with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities;
          • Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses.
          • Experience multi-tasking and prioritizing assignments;
          • Caring, supportive, accountable leader;
          • Leader willing to work on an interdisciplinary team and problem-solve solutions to improve services.

            This position requires the following as conditions of employment:
            • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
            • Must pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigations and a Federal Bureau of Investigations background check as a condition of employment. Included in the background check is a current and/or previous employer check. Your current and/or previous employers within the past 10 years at a minimum must be listed on your job application (most recent in descending order), even if the job or duties are unrelated to the position for which you are applying. Incomplete employer information (address, phone number, and supervisor) or omission of former employers may result in a disqualification of your application.
            • Must pass TB test.
            • Must possess a Colorado Driver's License.
            • Must maintain a current and active Registered Nurse License.
            • Must maintain a current CPR Card and perform CPR adequate compressions and ventilations per CPR guidelines.
            • This position is "Essential Service Designation": you will be required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
            • This position has shift work: day, evening and night shifts to include holiday and weekends as needed.
            • This position requires on-call work on weekends.
            • Effective September 20, 2021, this position will require documented proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. New employees will be required to provide attestation to their status with proof of vaccination within thirty (30) business days of hire.
