Job Profile Name: Manager, Community EngagementJob Profile Summary: This position manages the operations of the organization's public engagement and community outreach activities and develops strategies to meet outreach needs. Serves as a primary spokesperson and media contact, manages the public outreach budget and crisis communication.Job Description Duties & Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL:--- Manages public community engagement activities to enhance the image and public understanding of the organization, engage and educate customers, stakeholders, and interest groups.--- Identifies and implements short- and long-term communication and public engagement strategies and tools to ensure that key information, issues, plans, and programs are properly and effectively communicated to the public, employees, and stakeholders.--- Manages budget process for the community outreach team, as well as contracts for third-party services.--- Develops and implements comprehensive plan for community engagement agency-wide as well as for individual projects that may affect service.--- Manages the development and dissemination of collateral materials and communications tools, guides content for website and social media outlets.--- Oversees communications and outreach activities with other departments to ensure outreach is consistent with the goals of the RTD Strategic Plan and project needs.--- Works with the RTD Board of Directors, RTD staff, public and government officials, and their staff to fulfill a variety of information and engagement requests regarding the organization and transit-related matters. Works in a proactive manner to identify needs or issues early and collaborates to keep audiences informed.--- Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures.--- Conducts performance reviews and holds employees accountable for performance of their responsibilities.--- Ability to effectively facilitate meetings and encourage input from diverse or underrepresented groups.OTHER:--- All other job-related duties as assigned.Qualifications:--- A Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Administration, Political Science, or closely related field.--- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in community engagement, public affairs, or public relations with a public agency, related private company or industry.--- A minimum of three years of supervisory experience.--- A minimum of two years of media relations experience.--- Proficient in creating effective content for news releases, social media channels, informational materials, and website.--- Advanced communication skills, the ability to discuss issues diplomatically and maintain professional composure while under stress and pressure with proficiency in public speaking and presentations.--- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft 365. Knowledge of Salesforce email suite preferred. Proficient in utilizing analytic software to track performance and set goals.--- Ability to use sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.--- Ability to manage team time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details--- Understanding of traditional and social media with ability to direct effective messaging.--- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, to write concise, factual material.--- The ability to analyze complex and sensitive public and intergovernmental issues and develop and make recommendations.--- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include weekend or evening hours to host community meetings and events.--- Experience in virtual and remote engagement and meeting techniques a plus.--- Ability to speak and write Spanish or other non-English language a plus.--- Experience in media-related operations and techniques preferred.--- Ability to be on-call for media during evenings, weekends, and holidays.--- Professional appearance and attire required.OR--- An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities.WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.--- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
