Farnsworth Group rewards talent and develops leaders at all levels to bring out the best in each other.Farnsworth Group is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead our Grants Program inany of the following office locations: Illinois: Belleville, Bloomington, Champaign, Chicago, Lisle, Peoria, or Springfield; Denver, CO; St. Louis, MO; or Frisco, TX. The Business Development Manager Grants Program role is charged with leadership and management of business development, marketing, and communications efforts nationally to match grants and other public funding sources (Federal, State, and/or Local) with our client needs. This role drives collaboration with external clients and our internal team of business development and marketing professionals as well as technical discipline leaders. BD Managers are responsible to identify opportunities, collaborate with ongoing business development and marketing efforts, work across technical departments to understand project and client needs, assist in developing strategic plans and initiatives, coordinate efforts to implement those initiatives, prioritize opportunities, and facilitate a culture of collaboration and communication at all levels of responsibility. Job Activities:The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing:

  • Research and track available grants and funding reimbursement programs that may be utilized for Farnsworth Groups public sector, private, and non-profit clients. Evaluate and prioritize opportunities on how well they achieve the overall strategic goals of the business.
  • Coordinate with technical leaders (e.g., project managers) to match grant funding availability and requirements to specific existing or new clients.
  • Plan, develop, and drive a winning strategy. This may involve in-person meetings and travel to build strategic relationships with clients, agencies, and potential partners. Coordinate with the business development, technical leaders, and marketing teams to identify areas of collaboration.
  • Provide technical assistance in the assessment of funding capability, chances of funding success, win strategies, grant writing, quality reviews, and processing applications. Drive the process to meet deadlines and other key deliverables.
  • Assist and support client communications / interactions on grant funding and administration via in-person, virtual and email methods. Specific Requirements include:
    • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field required.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • 5 plus years of experience in grant-writing or marketing and/or governmental agency or foundation grant reviews
    • Experience in the Architecture-Engineering-Construction (AEC) industry and grant/ financing for capital projects
    • Diversity of grant experience preferred (federal, state, local, not-for-profit, private sector)
    • Self-starter requiring limited oversight
    • Ability to give high-level presentations to internal and external groups
    • Effective team building and collaboration skills
    • Excellent networking skills
    • Ability to supervise and direct work of others
    • Ability to work on several multi-discipline projects concurrently
    • Encourage and support a safety-oriented culture
