Description
The Manager of Software Development will lead a group of
high-performing software and data engineers who are passionate
about problem solving, technology, and innovative product
development. The manager will be accountable for supporting the IT
technical and architectural roadmap and ensuring project teams are
provided appropriate technical direction and support to deliver
within strategy. This position is instrumental in growing,
supporting, and guiding the technical delivery team to successfully
support future growth and critical initiatives for the
organization.
Duties
- Provide leadership and guidance to the software/data
engineering team, while fostering a positive culture of
collaboration, excellent teamwork, and effective communication
across technical, cross-functional, and team of peers
- Work with multiple Agile teams to ensure successful planning,
execution, and implementation of initiatives, projects, or
products
- Establish technical priorities, standards and procedures, build
technical capabilities, reduce technical debt, continuously
implement best practices to ensure quality of code, systems, and
data
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Solution Architect and PMO to
support the strategy, planning, and implementation of the IT
technical and architectural roadmap and provide insight on elements
relating to data warehousing, software, development, reporting, and
integration needs
- Communicate engineering team processes and priorities to
leadership and business stakeholders as needed
- Participate in SOX and IT general control management and
reviews
- Manage software development policies and practices in a
collaborative and agile fashion
- Coach and mentor engineers in learning and expanding their
expertise along their career path
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist the team and
organization's success
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong team leadership and mentoring skills for engineers of
different skills and experience levels
- Understanding of systems development life cycle
- Communication and collaboration skills including communicating
at technical and business levels, the ability to interact with
people from all organizational levels, adjusting messaging and
communication mode based on audience and ability to simplify
messaging for difficult or complex topics
- Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2016,
Microsoft's BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS), Salesforce, and
MuleSoft
- Sound ability to understand business needs and deliver results
through technical solutions
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw
sound conclusions
- Ability to learn and support new systems and applications
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends if needed in
response to needs of the systems being supported
Education/Experience
- 7+ years of IT experience
- 3-5 years previous technology management and team management
experience
- 3+ hands-on software development experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science,
or other applicable field, strongly preferred
- Proven experience and track record of supporting the delivery
of large scale, highly complex technical solutions
- Experience with Salesforce and Mulesoft
- Hands on experience with a variety of SDLC approaches (Agile,
Waterfall, Iterative, etc.)
- Prior experience with implementation and support of SaaS
applications and understanding of the ownership lifecycle
