General Role Description

The Director of Human resources is a key component in the organization as a trusted resource for all employees. This role will oversee the development of the department and have direct input in developing, and administration of, programs, policies, and procedures. This is a dynamic role tasked with holding business unit leaders accountable for successful implementation of various recruitment, development, and retention initiatives. The role will be involved in multiple legal entities with various levels of responsibility in each.

This position Reports to the Chief Financial Officer and has direct supervisory responsibilities over the Talent Acquisition Manager and the Human Resources Generalist.

High Level Key Responsibilities

Leadership
Responsible for leadership, coaching, direction, and evaluation of the HR staff to support the goals and objectives of the department and the core values of the Company
Responsible for actively and diligently participating in the strategic planning process where applicable (Outcome target responsibility, quarterly tactic/annual goal, specific ask in an action plan, etc.)
Acts as a coach, thought partner, and confidant to the leadership team
Accountable for action plan to attract, develop, and retain the best talent in the industry
Promote and reinforce the Core Values through action

Organizational Development
Consults on ongoing company organizational development and the creation and management of new organizations/departments
Develop, administer, and ensure lasting execution of, standard HR-related programs, processes, and procedures
Oversee continuous improvement of role profile creation and evolution
Oversee development of career ladder creation and evolution
Develops, improves, coordinates, and ensures timely completion of the talent management annual processes, including annual reviews, bonus reviews, compensation planning, and other assessments
Recommend, evaluate, and participate in staff development for the organization, including staffing recommendations and maintenance of/improvements to company organization charts and role profiles
Accountable for maintaining recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding processes
Work with operations to maintain staffing and recruiting budgets
Build and manage recruiting team and ongoing university relations
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues

Talent Management
Develops, improves, coordinates, and ensures timely completion of the talent management annual processes, including annual reviews, bonus reviews, compensation planning, and other assessments
Recommend, evaluate, and participate in staff development for the organization, including staffing recommendations and maintenance of/improvements to company organization charts and role profiles
Accountable for maintaining recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding processes
Work with operations to maintain staffing and recruiting budgets
Build and manage recruiting team and ongoing university relations
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues

Talent Development
Accountable to develop, maintain, and improve the talent development processes and programs, including personal development plans, leadership development plans, and approved training
Accountable for monitoring compliance with internal training requirements

Benefit Management
Works with benefit providers to ensure highest quality and most cost-effective benefits for employees (Insurance, 401k, wellness, etc.)
Responsible party for regular correspondence with benefit providers
Accountable for timely and accurate reporting and/or audit compliance

HR Management
Ensures timely completion of common and reoccurring compliance requirements, including payroll, reporting, and benefit enrollments
Works with HRIS providers to ensure highest quality data control and processes (ADP, Trakstar, etc.)
Interacts with outside legal firm, senior leadership team, and other parties in matters pertaining to legal and compliance issues
Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations
Assists in the preparation of the annual department budgets
Explores opportunities to reduce operating expenses
Performs special projects as directed by the Executive Team

Requirements
Degree Required; 5-10 years relevant experience
SPHR/SHRM-SCP or similar preferred
Assertive, results-driven personality
Ability to influence senior leadership on strategic initiatives
Business Dynamics Expertise - In-depth understanding of how role integrates successfully into the organization
Love of Data Analysis - Proficient use of tools to extract objective data and applying that data to initiatives
Emotional Intelligence - Ability to communicate with different personalities and gain support for both compliance and strategic initiatives.
In-depth knowledge of Colorado, Texas, and Federal employment law
Forward-thinking, with the ability to execute a plan to achieve future desired-state
