Aerospace Engineer Senior (Stress Analyst) Employer Corporation's Space Systems business area headquartered in Louisville, Colorado, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, space vehicles, rocket motors and spacecraft subsystems and components for the US Government, commercial customers as well as for the international market. We are looking for those interested in working at this fast paced environment, to be a part of cutting edge Spaceflight hardware design and manufacturing Job Description Aerospace structural engineers are required to support the development of Spaceflight Mechanisms and structures, including electro-mechanical actuators, release devices, solar array structures, deployable structures, and other similar spaceflight mechanisms and structures. Responsibilities include design, analysis, production support, test support, and integration of development and flight hardware. Familiarity with moving mechanisms, including standard manufacturing and assembly techniques is required. Desired areas of experience include:Perform Finite Element Analysis using FEAMAP/NASTRAN and other FEM toolsAbility and desire to learn Thermal Analysis using Sinda/thermal desktop analysis toolsFamiliarity with Spaceflight materialsExperience with spacecraft structures, spacecraft moving mechanisms, or launch vehicles requirementsFamiliarity with Design for manufacturing principlesExperience with Geometric dimensioning and tolerancingExperience with spacecraft design loads and environmentsFamiliarity with NASA and/or FAA structural design standardsAnalyze systems/subsystems based on customer requirements as associated with structures and mechanisms designsParticipate in the engineering development and support of sub-systems/products within our proven phased development process, including modelling, proof of concept, and implementation, and fielded system supportConduct stress analysis on structures and mechanismsConduct Stress analysis using both classical and finite element modelling (FEM) analysis tools, static and fatigue test predictions and regressions, and certification/qualification report preparationAdditional tasks may include support for environmental testing, coordination with multi-discipline teams including design and test teams, and other engineering disciplinesPreparation and presentation of materials for periodic design reviewsPunctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hoursOther duties as assignedSNC job descriptions are meant as summarizations only. They do not necessarily reflect all duties and responsibilities of a positionCOMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc.Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team trainingESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Minimum physical requirements to perform all duties and responsibilities, as defined by managementEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:BS minimum in related discipline10+ years previous experienceSKILLS REQUIRED:Candidates will have strong knowledge and practical experience in aircraft operations, dynamics, and controls; familiarity with MATLAB, Solidworks; experience with 3D CAD/CAM tools is a mustModeling of flexible dynamics (NASTRAN) exposure preferredCandidate must have complete familiarity with typical aerospace program design, system integration, producibility, maintainability, stress analysis requirements and proceduresCandidate must be able to conduct stress analysis on metallic and composite structuresA background in aircraft structural analysis (metallic and composite), static and fatigue testing requirements and analysis, and finite element modelling (FEM) is desiredFamiliarity with and desire to learn thermal analysis is preferredMust be capable of applying knowledge toward solving problems of a research nature, and be capable of working alone or with a technical team in a fast paced rapidly changing environment where quick reaction capability (QRC) and rapid prototyping is the normEmployer Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer - Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran, or any other protected status pursuant to applicable local, state or federal law, ordinance or regulation.
