Position Overview
The Make Ready Engineering Team Lead assists the Make Ready Manager
with all make ready projects including project tracking,
coordination of inspections, documentation of quality control, and
working with project management, subcontractors, vendors and
clients. Assists in maintaining project schedules, budgets and
providing continuous engineering solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform pre-construction field inspection to ensure completion of
make-ready and existing aerial facilities owned by various
power
Responsible for working with contractors ensuring quality
expectations and timetables are met
Verify utility measurements on existing utility poles in order to
prepare pole attachment applications for submission to governing
utilities
Perform field inspections against invoices to ensure accuracy and
ensure AEG specifications are met and that material usage is
correct
Coordinate with various power and communications entities to devise
a plan that will allow AEG to construct facilities in a cost
effective and satisfying manner
Provide field information to the permitting offices to ensure that
permits and applications required for make ready and construction
are filed accurately and timely
Provide regular project status reports to the Project and
Construction Managers and Community Liaisons including weekly
status reports
Responsible for coordinating with others to ensure the completion
of make-ready work of existing aerial facilities owned by various
power, telephone and CATV companies
Forecasts material needs and budgets and tracks all invoices
associated with the completion of the make-ready work. Monitors
cost controls for the company and client.
Ensures make-ready contractor invoices are accurate and work
invoiced is complete.
Monitors schedules and timeline production noting possible delays
and addressing those proactively
Other projects or duties as assigned
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Valid Driver's License and ability to pass an MVR and background
check
Certification for operation a bucket truck and pole climbing
preferred
2-3+ years of FTTX/telecommunication network construction
experience required
Working knowledge and experience with aerial and underground fiber
experience preferred
ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and MS Excel software experience required
Knowledge of FTTX, utility attachments, ROW permitting, material
management, construction, quality control , reading and
interpreting construction prints, and fiber optic testing
procedures required
Background in power, construction, or telecommunications
preferred
Experience with Pole Attachment Agreements preferred
Ability to travel to various project locations nationwide is
required
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
May experience long hours of standing and moving
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
