You will partner with the Government to ensure mission success of the Space Force Development Corps to develop, acquire and deploy Next generation OPIR space assets that defend against, defeat, and deter aggressive adversary behavior in space. As--Next Generation Block 0 GEO (NGG)--space vehicle on-site engineer, your primary responsibilities will be to oversee Lockheed Martin program activities in the Denver/Waterton area. These activities include building, testing and integration of the spacecraft bus structures as well as RF and electronics units and subsystems, e.g., electrical power subsystem (EPS), command and data handling (C&DH) and communication (Comm) subsystems. You will be a critical resource to the program aiding in the early identification and mitigation of risks, providing awareness to off-site Aerospace and government managers, and enabling the responsive application of Aerospace resources for prompt resolution of issues to keep the program on schedule.Key Functions

  • Work with contractors, government team (which includes Space Force, support contractor personnel) and team with the Engineering & Technology Group (ETG)--to ensure engineering processes and standards are applied to:
    • EPS, C&DH and Com digital and electronic units build, acceptance and qualification test
    • Spacecraft structure primary and secondary build, acceptance and qualification test
    • Engineering and design reviews, manufacturing reviews, test readiness reviews, test exit reviews, material review boards, failure review boards, and other technical and status reviews
    • Work with program office subject matter experts to help the contractor solve product development issues
    • Provide timely and accurate reporting on technical and quality issues of concern to the NGG program
    • Support Government decision making process by supplying sound, coordinated, and easily understood technical information
    • Monitor, assess and report progress NGG contractor design/build/test/integration status
    • Support cost, schedule and technical risk assessmentsQualificationsRequired
      • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline
      • 12 or more years relevant experience
      • Experience with commercial or military space system build and test process
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, customers, and other FFRDC personnel
      • Ability to work effectively from a remote site
      • Ability to obtain secret clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
      • Some travel is required
      • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skillsPreferred
        • Advanced degree in science or engineering is preferred
        • Familiarity with spacecraft electrical system engineering process or other major space system suppliers
